P.A. McCulloch Reviewing Death at Busch Estate

Dangerous drugs present in Adrienne Martin's blood, according to toxicology report.

St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch is reviewing the facts surrounding the Dec. 19 death of Adrienne N. Martin, 27, at August Busch IV's estate to determine whether any charges are warranted.

According to a statement Monday afternoon from McCulloch's office: "The investigation is ongoing, and we hope to have something in the very near future."

Beyond that, the P.A.'s office was mum.

Meanwhile, the medical examiner refused Monday to comment on a cause of death, according to KMOX Radio.

KMOX reported that no one is commenting on whether drugs were the cause of Martin’s death, how she got them or whether anyone might face charges.

St. Louis County Medical Examiner Dr. Mary Case said she won’t release the cause of death "until given the green light by the prosecutor," according to KMOX.

Cocaine and oxycodone were reportedly found in the blood of Martin, who was found unresponsive in a bedroom at Busch's Huntleigh home Dec. 19, according to local and national print and broadcast reports.

Toxicology report results were shared with Martin's family on Friday; the report is not expected to be released officially until later this week, according to an article Sunday in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Although Martin's former husband told the paper that he believed a heart condition may have caused his ex-wife's death, authorities had suspected that a drug overdose was to blame.

Busch, 46, who reportedly had dated the aspiring model for about a year, told the Post-Dispatch in an interview several weeks ago that he was concerned Martin may have taken too much Trazodone, a medicine prescribed for depression and insomnia.

Tom Becker, Frontenac police chief, did not return calls Monday seeking comment. Frontenac's jurisdiction also includes the Village of Huntleigh.

Oxycodone is prescribed for moderate to severe pain, according to wikipedia.com; if it is crushed, the drug can be abused via injection or snorting, leading to coma or death.

Oxycodone was found in the bloodstream of Australian actor Heath Ledger, who died of an accidental overdose in January 2008 at age 28.
