Reply@Victoria, thank you for the comment. You are absolutely correct that "selling" parents is probably the biggest challenge. Just a few months ago ElderLInk held a series of workshops on how to do just that and it was incredibly helpful. I would recommend contacting ElderLink for some help with this sensitive topic. And please let us know what you learn.

ReplyHere's an idea to get kids involved in eating healthy: The Food Plate icon comes in different colors. Have your kids pick out the one they like the best at: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/global_nav/media_resources.html
Then, enlarge the graphic so it's the size of a real plate, laminate it, and use it as the kid's place mat. In fact, have everyone in the family do it, parents too. Then, when everyone sits down to eat, they can all compare what's on their plate to what's on the place mat!
