This new weekly column will feature ideas for staying healthy.

Welcome to the inaugural weekly column about healthy living. Each week we will bring you information on nutrition, fitness and lifestyle choices to help you live healthier and happier. I have put flexibility as number three because I don't feel it is as important as the first two.  Don't get me wrong, it is important but to a lesser degree.  Some people may struggle with flexibility or have other issues that limit there range of motion.  Therefore, I emphasize forearm and core strength first.  Personally, I have never met a golf swing that was too short, meaning a smaller range of motion can actually help a golf swing (eliminates some moving parts).  I feel flexibility training is most important in two areas - …

Pliates Center of Ladue Invites You To Spring Training

The Pilates & Yoga Center in Ladue offers a different type of spring training, one which helps improve strength and flexibility, as well as knowledge of your body.

Eighteen years ago, Karen Prechtl brought Pilates to St. Louis, setting up shop in a space at COCA, in University City. She is now on her third studio, with The Pilates and Yoga Center, located at 9825 Clayton Rd. in Ladue. "At my last studio, I had 38 employees, and now I have 9, which allows me to slow down and focus on instruction and personalized attention, says Prechtl. The one-on-one focus starts with a personal assessment, which Prechtl offers to each new student, regardless of experience, and from this the studio tailors a plan to meets the needs and knowledge level of the client.
