Nerinx in Title Game with a 68-60 Win Over Host Ladue

Class 5, District 2 title game Thursday between the Markers and St. Joe Angels.

Laying a trap for the Angels. Nerinx Hall has two complete days of rest before facing the St. Joe Angles for the Class 5, District 2 championship game against nemesis St. Joseph’s Academy Thursday night at Ladue. That game, which tips off at 7 p.m. will be for all the marbles. “Oh, we’ve been preparing for that game a long time ago. Not with just a couple of days,” said the Nerinx coach Mike Slater. Of course, Nerinx was not thinking ahead of a game with the Angels, having to meet Ladue last night in a semifinal game. Ladue’s Taylor Robinson, who has inked a scholarship with Temple University wasn’t going down without a fight. She led everyone in scoring with 23 points. The moment of frustration came late in the game. Robinson hauled down …

John Thomas, Teammates Step Up For Big Ladue Victory Over Roosevelt

Eleven point victory sends the Rams into the semifinals of the SLUH District against the CBC Cadets.

The Ladue High School basketball team brought new meaning to the word adversity. The Rams overcame several key issues to defeat Roosevelt, 49-38 in the quarterfinals of the Class 5, District 2 game at St. Louis University High School. The Rams play CBC Wednesday night at 7 p.m. “We have absolutely zero to lose,” said winning coach Chad Anderson, moments after leaving the Danis Fieldhouse court. CBC swept aside Ladue by 18 points earlier in the season. About that overcoming adversity. Ding: 6-foot-8 junior Austin DaGue is sporting a bright blue cast on his right arm. He broke his arm in a pick up game at the Center of Clayton Sunday. He is kaput for the season. Subtract 10.3 points per game from the offense. Ding: Senior guard Ryan Dean got…

Ladue Girls' Basketball Season Ends On A Sour Note

The 20-6 Rams fall to Webster Groves 64-54 in district play at St. Louis U. High.

Ladue High got a mixed bag of results in district basketball at St. Louis U. High yesterday. While the boys defeated Roosevelt, 49-38, the Webster girls were just to big and too strong and too quick for the Lady Rams. Ladue saw its season end, falling to the Lady Statesmen 64-54. Junior center Taylor Robinson played the second half like she didn’t want to end the season. She scored 12 points; 10 coming in the second half. It was a brilliant game for Ladue’s two forwards. Junior Natalie Grimm had 19 points; Liz Greenberg, also a junior poured in 16. But the Rams could not keep Webster off the boards. The resilient Statesmen pulled steadily away coming down the stretch. Jordan Thompson, senior guard had an all-around outstanding game in the …
