MoDOT Hoping to Improve Traffic Flow on Olive Boulevard

The major east-west roadway runs from Chesterfield in West County all the way to the eastern edge of University City.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is looking to improve the traffic flow on Olive Boulevard, a road that has likely been the source of many a frustrated commute for St. Louis County drivers. Olivette drivers will be glad of that. The east-west street stretches from Chesterfield on one end to University City on the other, and MoDOT officials recently told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Ride Guy that they have hired a consultant to examine how its 47 traffic signals can be better synchronized. The move follows the completion of improvements to allow Highway 141 in Chesterfield to carry more traffic. MoDOT spokeswoman Linda Wilson Horn said the study will likely result in a few seconds being added to green lights throughout …

The owner said he's invested $900,000 in the location.

A popular Chesterfield pancake house is set to open at the Colonial Markeplace in about a month. The MarketPlace is in both Ladue and Clayton. Gordon Manus, owner of Original Pancake House in Chesterfield, told Patch he invested $900,000 to open his second St. Louis area restaurant. "We’re just about done with construction. Furniture is coming in Friday of next week, we'll have our China glass and silver next week," he said. "We haven’t turned on the equipment yet, as long as it all works, we’ll be on track." He said the look will be similar to the Chesterfield spot, known for its rustic look. "There will be timber wood and pine walls, a big fire place and sky lights," he said. "It’s really nice-looking. You walk in, and you’ll be …

A Conversation With the New Edge Wild Owners, Dee Dee & Andy Kohn: Part I

Envision the finest domestic and international wines; a massive bar, lots of appetizers, burgers, salads and entrees too and a building full of lively patrons.

Like Phoenix rising from the ashes Busch’s Grove location will feature a restaurant once more. This incarnation will be a wine bar restaurant run by the enterprising family of Dee Dee and Andy Kohn. Andy Kohn is a Country Day graduate; their two boys graduated MICDS and the family has moved from Ladue further west. The husband-wife team already own and operate Edge Wild Restaurant & Winery in Chesterfield. That concept will be coming to Ladue. It will not be the reincarnation what-so-ever of the shuttered Busch’s Grove. Of the thousand restaurants in St. Louis, Edge Wild II will be an exclusive gathering place, offering fine wines from their own vineyard in Defiance, MO and elsewhere. By cutting out the middle man markups, the new owners …

New Mizzou Store Explodes Black and Gold in Chesterfield Valley

The University of Missouri-themed store quietly opened Aug. 29, but with a new sign installed Wednesday, it's set for a grand opening on Thursday.

It's probably a lament often heard in Mizzou Nation: Where can I lay my hands on a bottle opener that plays "Fight Tigers" when I pop the top of my brew? The answer is here at last. The Mizzou Store opened quietly in the Chesterfield Valley on Aug. 29, but has its official grand opening this week. And if you visit the store at 10 THF Boulevard, near the eastern end of the massive retail strip mall off of Highway 40, prepare yourself: You might overload on black and gold. There are T-shirts and sweatshirts, bottle cozys and blankets. There is even that bottle opener we mentioned earlier.  "I think that's pretty crazy. That makes me laugh," said Michelle Froese, spokesman for The Mizzou Store. "We also have grill accessories so you can brand…

GOP House Candidates Debate For The First Time

Ed Martin and Ann Wagner traded light jabs on endorsements and disagreement over immigration policy in the first debate between candidates for Missouri's new second district U.S. House seat.

Ten months before next August's primary, voters had their first chance over the weekend to see the two candidates vying for the Republican nomination to represent Missouri's newly redrawn second congressional district in Congress stand side by side and debate the issues. Ed Martin and Ann Wagner, who were both in the audience on the May day in Creve Coeur when Todd Akin announced he would run for the Senate instead of another term in the House, were back together for the debate at the Drury Plaza in Chesterfield Saturday afternoon. Click here to read our live blog from the debate While there were opportunities to see some differences both candidates directed most of their fire at President Obama and Congress.
