The Olivette City Council voted to end the city's membership in the Creve Coeur-Olivette Chamber of Commerce Tuesday night.
The Creve Coeur-Olivette Chamber of Commerce will continue to go by the same name, despite the fact that Olivette has decided not to continue as a chamber member, the organization's Executive Vice President Nancy Gray confirmed Thursday. Tuesday night, the Olivette City Council voted not to renew the city's membership in the Chamber, citing a dissatisfaction with the organization's leadership and general questions about what the city has gotten out of the arrangement. Community members and local and state dignitaries gathered Sunday for the ceremonial opening of the Max and Drew Erlich Center.
The actual work of the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry won't begin at a new home on Bauer Boulevard for a few more weeks, but on Sunday, people from across the St. Louis area and the state converged on Creve Coeur to pay tribute to the couple responsible for making it happen. The Max and Drew Erlich Center was celebrated in style, complete with proclamations and speeches from Creve Coeur Mayor Barry Glantz, St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley, State Representative Jill Schupp and others, including 2nd District U.S. House candidate Ann Wagner and Missouri Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder. Twice is nice in the Barry and Sheri Glantz Family.
In this day and age, one politician in a family can strain the relationships. Two in a family, well just look out. Things can be a little nutty in the Glantz family of Creve Coeur these days. While Barry, 52 is running for his first term as mayor of Creve Coeur, Sheri, 50 is running for re-election to the Ladue School Board. Their campaign signs are positioned side by side in many yards in Ladue, Creve Coeur, Olivette and other municipalities feeding into the district. Barry can deflect on this one. “I don’t consider myself a politician,” he revealed. Dinners used to be the time when all the Glantz’s would gather to talk about their daily activities. Scott- a few years ago they had a candidate forum for a Creve Coeur election in Olivette. That was a little whacky. Perhaps some Creve Coeur and Olivette establishments will go after the lunch business.   more ›
