It was a crowning moment of redemption for this sprinter, headed to college in Indiana.
Ah, sweet redemption. Senior speed back Denzell Conway of the MICDS football team got his moment in the sun Saturday, finally. Conway brought down the champ, Ezekiel Elliott of John Burroughs in the district finals of the 100 meter dash on the MICDS track. It was a moment to savor. Conway crossed first at 10.90; Elliott was second at 10.95. Conway pumped his fist into the air at the finish line much to the delight of the partisan MICDS fans, his teammates and coaches too. They were all overjoyed to see this moment come and go. Elliott, toiling through seven races was the champ of the 110 high hurdles (13.77); the 300 intermediate hurdles(38.94) and the 200 meter dash (22.56). Conway said “I’ve been waiting a long, long time for this to …

Perfect day for racing for Zeke Elliott, Burroughs; Madison Barker & Colin Cernik, Ladue.
Some 39 teams and about 1,000 athletes took part in the annual Brusca-Strobach track meet, held on the artificial surface at Ladue Horton Watkins High School Saturday. Skies were crystal clear and it was a little windy, but conditions were perfect for runners with temperatures in the mid 50s. Some of the Patch area athletes had what could be described as a breakout weekend. Lot's more photos on the Ladue-Frontenac Facebook page. Here’s how some of the stars did yesterday: Ezekiel Elliott, John Burroughs Before heading off to football at Ohio State, Elliott has some unfinished business on the local tracks. He skipped the Kansas Relays to participate in the conference meet Friday night at Lutheran South and the Brusca/Strobach meet Saturday…

Host Rams are looking for some warmer weather and clear skies and a day of great competition.
For those who love track and field, it doesn't get any better than the Brusca/Strobach meet at Ladue Horton Watkins High School Saturday. This has grown into one of the premier meets of the spring season. The weather can be downright iffy. A couple of years ago, organizer and Ladue head track coach Keith Harder had to send everyone home because of a total rainout. "This has been the worst weather season I can remember," said Harder, keeping his pulse on the long-range forecast. This will be a real treat. A late entrant are the boys of John Buroughs. Ezekiel Elliott has pulled out of the Kansas Relays to run at home. He will be favorite in the sprints and hurdles and recently became a high jumper. This is the website for TRXC Timing, …

Decision announced on live television. Leaving Mizzou behind was not easy to do.
Zeke Elliott, clearly the most talented football player in John Burroughs history, who rushed for 4,000 career yards and 70 TDs the past two seasons announced on live television that he was taking his talents to The Ohio State University. It would be fair to say, that broke the collective hearts of Mizzou Tiger fans. It was not a great surprise to Zeke’s class mates. To the student, they all said OSU--for sure. His dad, Stacy Elliott’s red tie was a dead give-away of the decision. More photos on the Ladue-Frontenac Facebook page. Probably there are two or three big reasons why Elliott chose the Buckeyes. First, Urban Meyer does a great job of developing backs who both run and catch the ball. That had particular appeal to No. 2 in a …

That leaves Burroughs Zeke Elliott the chance to bolt to Mizzou.
The rumor mill is running rampant around the country with National Signing Date occurring in the morning. The Mansfield (Ohio) News Journal reports about how five highly-prized recruits have been flipped to Ohio State. The latest is big time running back Dontre Wilson of DeSoto, TX who broke the hearts of Oregon fans to head to Columbus. So where does that leaved prized back Ezekiel Elliott of Burroughs? He isn't saying, but he will at a televised conference at Burroughs later today at 4 o'clock. Could this be another classic Dorial Green-Beckham, Springfield's star receiver who skipped out on Arkansas for the Tigers at the last moment. These kinds of things happen every year. Missouri Net weighs in on this too.

Burroughs Wonder Star Zeke Elliott visits Mizzou just ahead of National Football Signing Day Feb. 12.
Burroughs super-star running back Ezekiel Elliott just returned from a whirlwind 24-hours at Mizzou. All along, his word was he was going to take his talents to Columbus, Ohio and The Ohio State University Buckeyes. Friday night, departing Westminster Christian Academy's gym, Elliott put it this way: "They are still my state school, and I'm going down there to give them a chance." The worm could be turning. Ohio State brought in a last-minute prospect, just in case Zeke bolts for Columbia. The visit went very well. The crowd at the Mizzou Arena for the Vanderbilt game rocked the house with M-I-Z-E-Z-E. The Burroughs back got the message. Both his parents lettered in sports at Mizzou. His dad Elliott played football for the Tigers. USA …

Long time verbal pledge to Ohio State could well be under consideration to change?
Burroughs' Metro Player of the Year, Zeke Elliott, who rushed for 70 TDs the past two years and who recently returned from a week at the U.S. Army All-Star football game in San Antonio plans a visit to the Mizzou football program this weekend. Dave Matter, sports writer for the Columbia Tribune reports. Elliott and his teammates have a key basketball game at Westminster Christian Academy Friday, then he's off to Columbia. Both of his parents lettered in sports at Mizzou. The National Signing Date is coming up Tuesday, February 12.

Current improves to 14-2. Bombers absorb first loss of the season.
Earlier this week, Burroughs' 16 points per game senior scorer Foye Oluokun has arthroscopic knee surgery and was sidelined for the showdown game with high-flying Crossroads (14-2). But, excuses are never in order. Teams play with the hand delt them. Oluokun, decked in blue sweat suit got on the court only long enough to wipe perspiration from the floor. The Crossroads Current rode some torrid perimeter shooting to end Burroughs win streak at home Friday night, 63-57. That was despite the heroic effort of mighty Ezekiel Elliott who drove the lane constantly for 23 points, 20 coming in the second half. But the Clay brothers of Crossroads lit up the second board. Junior Trevor Clay had 22 points; his brother Kameron, a sophomore had 17. …

Current use hot outside shooting to defeat the Bombers 63-57. Foye Oluokun sidelined with minor knee surgery.
John Burroughs had not lost a single game in a season that began way back on November 27 when they opened with a 51-21 win over Metro High at the Matthews-Dickey Boys Club. The Bombers ran off the first 14 games of the season with victories, the longest win streak in the modern era, and certainly during the tenure of Steve Wilcutt. The streak is over. The host Bombers dropped a 63-57 decision to (14-2) Crossroads in a non-league game last night. Down by as many as 13 in the first half, the Bombers battled back behind the scoring of their senior guard Mr. Everything Ezekiel Elliott. Elliott poured in 23 points; 20 coming in the second half. He was pretty much unstoppable driving the lane. But junior Trevor Clay had a game for the ages, …

Bombers prep for Friday showdown at MICDS with 12th win in an undefeated season.
Ezekiel Elliott is back from participating in the U.S. Army All-Star football game in San Antonio. He missed just one game while he was gone, and he helped the Bombers to their 12th win of the season Tuesday night at home. Cedric Williams has a complete account of the victory tomorrow.
