MoDOT: With Wintry Weather in Forecast, Give Crews Room to Work

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports on the St. Louis area work zones through March 6.

Missouri Department of Transportation officials warn that crews may be out treating roadways and plowing in the coming week. Drivers give the trucks plenty of room to work. Commuters should also be aware of changing roadway conditions, especially in the mornings. They should slow down, and be prepared for possible ice, especially on ramps and bridges. As the weather clears, maintenance workers will be completing needed roadway maintenance, such as pavement repairs and crack sealing. Please watch for slow moving or stopped vehicles with flashing lights in traffic lanes. As weather permits, inspection crews will close one lane in each direction on the Poplar Street Bridge.  Weekdays, crews will close the lane between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. On …

Snow Closings All over Ladue, Frontenac & Olivette

City Hall closed; Library closed. Local Communities are rapidly turning into ghost towns.

This wintry mix of ice and snow is rapidly taking a toll on local businesses, schools and the like. All of the local schools are closed. At noon, the St. Louis County Library, and all branch locations closed. Ladue City Hall is closed for business. Those who are closing in Ladue should email the Patch: james.baer@patch.com or tell us through social media on Twitter. Unless you absolutely have to go out, the best advice is to stay home and let road crews plow the streets and let fire and police deal with accidents and the like. Updates will be reported throughout the storm. And...do you know of an area business, event or office that's closed today because of the storm? Please consider adding it as a comment below.

Police and road crews are preparing for the evening commute. MoDOT crews will work into the night, after slick roads and accidents prevented morning road treatments.

UPDATED: 4:00 p.m.-  Missouri Department of Transportation officials said in news release Thursday afternoon, snow removal operations will be underway all evening and overnight. This news comes after messy morning roads throughout St. Louis, St. Charles and Jefferson counties. "We have full crews (204 trucks) throughout the St. Louis region focusing on re-treating every interstate and major route with salt, chemicals and beet juice before rush-hour. Chemicals have to be used with salt to be effective in these low 20's temperatures to break up any icy patches," MoDOT stated in the news release. "MoDOT is re-plowing areas as needed with the wind gusts blowing some snow back on the roads. We will continue to have full crews working until all …

Falling Flakes

Ladue and Frontenac Get Pelted With First Snow of the Year.

Ladue and Frontenac, like surrounding communities, got their first significant snowstorm of the year overnight and the snowfall continued into late morning. The plows were out early, and the parking lots were being cleared by early morning for holiday shoppers. Life goes on in Ladue and Frontenac. David Langsam, as he's done for 25 years, was out for his morning run through Ladue and Olivette. Vic Bassman, artist in residence at Ladue High and retired after 36 years of teaching was heading over to the high school after his daily stop at Starbucks. Carl Bolm, president of BSR Services Inc. was finishing up clearing the parking lot at the Village at Schneithorst, making sure everyone was pleased. Church goers at Annunziata Parish in Ladue …
