Information was provided by the communications department at Villa Duchesne. Villa Duchesne’s high school team is first in the state in the medium-school division of the 2013 Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge. Individual Villa Duchesne students also medaled in Chemistry, Computer Science, English, and Physics. The state competition is sponsored each spring by Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla. The WYSE Academic Challenge is a competitive series of multiple-choice tests in seven subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering Graphics, English, Mathematics, and Physics.

Team Advances to Sectionals in Small School Division
Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School is advancing to sectionals in the 2013 Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge. The Villa Duchesne team placed first in the regional challenge for the Small School division. The WYSE Academic Challenge is a competitive series of multiple-choice tests in seven subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering Graphics, English, Mathematics, and Physics. In addition to their success as a team, three members were recently named National Merit Finalists. Meghan Grojean, Megan Pohl, and Catherine Wagner placed in the top one percent of the more than 1.5 million students who take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School is advancing to the state finals in the 2012 Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge. The Villa Duchesne team placed first in the regional challenge for the Small School division. Villa Duchesne’s Madelaine Behrens, Kristen Buehne, Sophie Flotron, Meghan Grojean, Morgan Link, Jordyn Lucas, Lauren Nickson, Megan Pohl, and Catherine Wagner compete for the state title on April 17 at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla.
