St. Louis Hall of Fame Plans $20 million Downtown Building

One of the sites under consideration is the train shed at Union Station.

This information has been provided by the St. Louis Hall of Fame. "The Best Sports Hall of Fame in America" is going to be built in downtown St. Louis", says St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame Founder/President Greg Marecek as the Capital Campaign led by Founders Club Chairman Dr. Rick Lehman begins officially. Marecek is a Webster Groves businessman and former owner of KFNS Radio and former sports editor of the Suburban Journal newspapers. Count Me In As Thrilled That Blues' Hockey is Back

Absolutely nothing was gained by that long protracted Lock Out.

I, for one am thrilled the National Hockey League Lock Out is over. Thank goodness, we can get back to our “biscuit in the basket” routine now. There will be some more Gus Kyle “barn burners” this winter. Hope springs eternal. Fact is, I know little, if anything about hockey. My eye sight is not the world’s best, but truth be known, I’ve never ever seen a goal be scored. I see a lot of pushing and shoving around the net, and the next moment, the horn is blaring and blinking lights are going off. I suppose viewing from the cheap seats, someone scored. When local business man Tom Stillman took to the microphone at the Scottrade Center Thursday, this marks the first time the St. Louis Blues are in local hands since Kiel Center Partners--(under the watchful eyes of Mark Sauer and Jerry Ritter) ran the show in 1991-1999. The St. Louis Blues have battled the tides of changing economies and different places in the standings since the days when insurance magnate Sidney Salomon brought professional hockey to St. Louis for the 1966-67 season. An array of different owners with varying personalities ran the show first at the old Arena on …

Blues Exec To Creve Coeur-Olivette Chamber: Sale "Reaching The Finish Line"

Minority partner Tom Stillman's group making progress in last 72 hours.

During Thursday's monthly membership luncheon for the Creve Coeur-Olivette Chamber of Commerce, St. Louis Blues Vice Chairman Michael McCarthy told the audience that the sale of the team and related assets to minority partner Tom Stillman is "reaching the finish line." McCarthy made the comment during a brief question and answer session following a scheduled presentation to highlight the organization's work to refurbish and reopen the Peabody Opera House, as well as to spotlight the team's rise under new Head Coach Ken Hitchcock. The sale of the team and some of the related assets has been an on-again, off-again issue for years in St. Louis. McCarthy allowed Thursday that "there's some anxiety when something drags on this long." ESPN.com …
