Angels face Jackson Missouri while MICDS tangles with unbeaten Incarnate Word.
By a quirk of fate, it will be MICDS, not St. Joseph’s Academy playing Incarnate Word Academy in the state sectional game of the Missouri basketball tournament tomorrow night. The game is between MICDS (24-2) and IWA (27-0) at Parkway West at 7:45 p.m. IWA, long a class 5 team (like St. Joe) dropped its enrollment and became a class 4 team this season. That is good news for the St. Joe Angels, but not so much for the MICDS Rams. The Rams defense will have to find a way to slow up sophomore sensation Napheesa Collier, the top scorer in the Metro. The combined averages of MICDS’ top scorers Emily Kyman, 11.9, Taylor Baur, 9.9 and Caroline Militello 7.8 are just slightly higher than Colliers 24.7 points per game. Rams coach Scott Small takes …

Taylor Baur leads the way with 16; Rams win 23rd game of the year, 52-14.
When a team has quarters of 2, 5, 3 and 4, they hardly can expect to win a game. Unfortunately, that was the fate of Villa Duchesne in the semifinals of the Class 4, District 6 basketball playoffs at Clayton. MICDS polished off the Saints easily, 52-14 in another clock-shortened finish. MICDS improved its record to 23-2, and meets the winner of Westminster Christian Academy/Visitation Academy for the championship game Thursday at 6 p.m. The game was a look ahead to the future of Rams basketball. Freshman Taylor Baur had 16 points to lead all scorers. Though 8 players scored for MICDS, no one else was in double figures. Rams moved to 11-1 by completely stifling South's offense, in what is now MICDS' ninth straight victory.
AFFTON -- The first few minutes of Friday's Metro League girls basketball game began the same way that almost every game this season has begun for MICDS, with the Rams struggling to find their rhythm on offense. There were several bad possessions at the beginning of the game for MICDS, including more than one that ended with either a turnover or a missed shot. Surprisingly, even with a full week off after the Rams won the MICDS Girls Holiday Tournament championship game back on December 29, the rusty period only lasted those first few minutes on Friday. Rams rattle 'Hounds with tough full-court pressure defense, and cruise to big win in opening round of the MICDS Girls Holiday Tournament.
If MICDS girls basketball coach Scott Small could've guessed beforehand how well his Rams would play in their first round game at the MICDS Holiday Tournament against Clayton High on Friday, he couldn't have dreamed of a better performance. The Rams, who hadn't done anything but practice all week, looked like a well-oiled machine Friday night against the Greyhounds at the McDonnell Gymnasium. And they looked especially fantastic on defense, where their relentless full-court pressure caused all kinds of problems for Clayton, and led MICDS to a dynamic 66-15 victory over the 'Hounds.
