What Will Be New and Different in Ladue & Frontenac in 2013?

Administrators coming and going; shops opening and closing; Ladue gets a new mayor and so much more.

Correction: The donation for the new MICDS Math & Science building came from the Danforth family, not the Danforth Foundation. Patch regrets this error. Ah, as your trustworthy Ladue-Frontenac Patch editor, it seems time to look into that crystal ball and see what is going to happen in 2013. A pox on those who say nothing ever happens in Ladue or Frontenac. Here’s some Patchy items heading into the New Year. The Ladue School District will get a new Superintendent. Now that’s earth-shaking. Marsha Chappelow wrapped up a 40 year teaching/supervisory career and headed to Kansas City the very end of November. She asked for, and received her full pay and benefits, though she will be only available for consulting the last seven months of her …

Celebration at Sunset, Par for St. Joseph's Academy

A day of tennis, cards, golf, lunch, auction and dinner, all for a very good cause.

Once again, the St. Joseph's Academy school community closed ranks for another very worthwhile cause. The annual Celebration at Sunset (Country Club) was held Monday to raise money for the scholarship fund. This money is earmarked for scholarships for any student who loses a basic breadwinner during their four years at school. Two students are presently being provided for under this umbrella. Think of it as a fund for some rainy days. One hundred and thirty five golfers teed off, 36 in the morning and 99 after the lunch hour. In the morning 11 women played round robin tennis and 50 women, mostly graduates of the Academy played in spirited card games. A luncheon was held on the veranda and a lavish dinner, with prizes and silent auction …
