Attorney: Car In Fatal Accident "Took Off Like A Rocketship"

Longtime attorney of developer Marvin Gelber spoke to Creve Coeur Patch Friday morning.

Creve Coeur Police continue their investigation into a fatal car accident last month which killed a passanger, but a longtime attorney for the driver is shedding new light on what may have happened. Merle Silverstein told Patch Friday that according to the daughters of Marvin Gelber, the Creve Coeur developer who was behind the wheel on May 20, Gelber and Sheila Weaver were returning to their home on Sackston Woods Lane, when Weaver got out of the car and got the couple's mail. Weaver got back in the vehicle but didn't re-fasten her seatbelt, according to what Silverstein's been told. Then, the car "took off like a rocket," Silverstein said. Police Release Identity Of Victim In Fatal Car Accident

Sheila Weaver, 67, was the passenger in a car Creve Coeur Police say hit a tree and overturned Sunday.

Creve Coeur Police Wednesday announced that Sheila Weaver was the woman who died following a Sunday afternoon car accident in the Sackston Woods subdivision. Police said Weaver lived in the neighborhood and was the passenger in a car driven by a 91 year old man who's identity has not been released by police. According to authorities, the car drove off the road and struck a tree, trapping both occupants. Weaver, 67, was a real estate agent and also served on the City of Creve Coeur's Economic Development Commission. Reached by phone in Colorado, former Mayor Harold Dielmann called Weaver's death "a terrible loss for the whole community."
