Police: No Crime Committed In Ladue Middle School Instagram Bullying

An investigation into a second posting which invoked the image of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter is still ongoing.

In a letter to parents and staff Wednesday, the Ladue School District announced that a police investigation has identified who was behind an Instagram social media account discovered in January that made crude comments about students at Ladue Middle School. Police Chief Rich Wooten confirmed that the source was a juvenile who did not attend Ladue schools. He would not identify the age of the person or where they were from because no actual crime took place. "While the comments accompanying the first post were insulting, the pictures were legally acquired from other social media sites and no laws were broken," the letter to parents said. Tougher Gun Control Laws: Are They Inevitable Now?

Following the tragic school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT, should we expect to see stricter laws regarding gun purchases in the United States?

The question reemerges after every mass shooting in America: are more stringent gun control laws necessary to prevent future shootings?  It's a question that was posed after the shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, CO in July. And as the national conversation continues to focus on the tragic school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT, it's a question being asked again. So far, lawmakers in Missouri have been divided on how to respond. As KMOX reported on Thursday, Rep. Stacey Newman (D-Richmond Heights) is calling for the implementation of required background checks for people who buy firearms at gun shows. Meanwhile, other Missouri lawmakers are supporting a bill that would allow school officials with concealed carry …

I paint it as nothing. If you are embarrassed by your own public information and line item expenses, I can not help it. The cost of this program is peanuts. The real problem with the LSD is it spends too too large a percentage of revenue on payroll and never has enough for other things. We are in a buyers' market for teachers and what do we do? We raise the starting pay and raise everyone's taxes…   more ›

Local Area Schools Locked Down Tighter Than a Drum

Reactions to shooting tragedy in Newtown, CT are swift and heart-felt.

In light of the awful, terrible shooting tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, this is how the local schools in Ladue and Frontenac are handling security for their students, staff and administration. Ladue’s Communications Director Susan Dielmann reports Ladue Schools have been secured behind electronic doors ever since Prop K passed in 2007, giving them funds to finish that project. “Our parents, families all know no one enters the building without first being buzzed in by security. Our staff has keys and cards to gain entry from the outside. Parents and other visitors must first check in with the front office then wear badges when traveling through any of our buildings.” Dielmann said the shooting in Connecticut is just…
