Ladue Grad: A Key Leader in the St. Louis County NAACP Movement

John Gaskin former Rams football captain is the leader once again of the Freedom Fund Dinner on June 4.

On Tuesday, June 4, the St. Louis County chapter of the NAACP will have its annual fundraiser dinner at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Clayton. This event has grown by leaps and bounds, thanks in part to the dutiful work of a former Ladue High football player and student leader John Gaskin. Gaskin is in leadership in training with the NAACP. After graduating two years ago from Ladue, he began devoting his summers to this cause. He travels the country, representing the organization and going to regional and national training sessions and meetings. Gaskin, who continues to play football at Benedictine College, Atchison, KS sat down for an interview to expand on the success of his chapter. St. Louis County NAACP Held a Soulful Jazz Extravaganza

Money raised supports the educational and litigation funds for local and national programs.

Information was provided by the St. Louis County NAACP. The NAACP St. Louis County Branch recently held a Soulful Jazz Brunch extravaganza as a fundraiser for the organization. More than 300 community leaders, corporate partners, and individual donors attended the 3rd Annual Soulful Holiday Jazz Brunch Extravaganza at the Ritz-­‐Carlton. Proceeds from the event support educational and litigation funds for local and national programs. Event was emceed by Who’s Who in Black St. Louis’ Keith Antone Willis. While many came to hear the legendary sounds of local Jazz Bands Cee Jazz Soul and Three central, many enjoyed over 30 vendors in the market place shopping. John Gaskin: Ladue High Grad, Definitely on the Move

Look out, John Gaskin might be on your doorstep soon, selling you a ticket to the St. Louis County NAACP Freedom Fund dinner June 5 at the Ritz Carlton in Clayton. But you’d better get that that check book out quickly, there are just three tables yet to be sold. In the 103 year history of this dinner, this is guaranteed to be the biggest success ever. Gaskin, who graduated Ladue Horton Watkins just one year ago is definitely a young man on the move. He is the youngest chairman of this dinner in the lengthy history of the organization. Gaskin, who plays on the defensive line for the Benedictine College, Atchinson, KS football team just completed his freshman year. Jazmyn Ferguson to be honored at Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri fundraising event, Dessert First

  Jazmyn Ferguson, a sophomore student at Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School (MICDS), will be honored and receive a scholarship this Thursday at a Girl Scout fundraising event at The Ritz-Carlton. Jazmyn is a Girl Scout Senior and believes that the amazing opportunities she has experienced through Girl Scouting have motivated her to become a leader.  Jazmyn currently serves as one of two girl members on the Board of Directors. Girl members on the Board of Directors are required to attend all board meetings and other related functions, and be a representative for the Council at various Girl Scout public functions. Jazmyn said that being a part of the Board of Directors has taught her to be assertive and to speak her opinion. …
