Ladue Knocks Off Previously Unbeaten No. 8 Ritenour To Win Holiday Tournament Championship

Senior Elizabeth Greenberg came up huge for Ladue by making 13 of 16 free throws, including seven in the final minute of a 52-44 Ram victory over the Huskies.

OVERLAND -- If there’s one thing Ladue girls basketball coach Cord Dockery is certain of through the first half of the season when it come to his team, is that the Rams will always play up or down to their competition. Two weeks ago, Ladue was on a --game winning streak, but still managed to play one of its worst games of the season in a loss to 1-5 Notre Dame. But on other occasions against much better competition, the Rams have played extremely well and brought home wins against teams like Summit, Whitfield, Parkway West and Confluence. That trend continued on Friday afternoon in the championship game of the newly-minted Ritenour Holiday Tournament, as Ladue delivered a superb performance from start to finish, to claim a 52-44 tournament…

Crunch Time Defensive Plays, Jump Shot By McNichols Lift Ladue Past DuBourg In Tourney Semifinal At Ritenour

Rams will play host school in championship final, after getting past DuBourg in hard-fought early afternoon tussle.

OVERLAND -- For the first 30 minutes of Thursday's Ritenour Holiday Tournament game against Bishop DuBourg, Ladue High girls basketball coach Cord Dockery tried just about every trick in the book to get his Rams to dig in and play defense like he knew they could. Dockery called different defenses; he called several timeouts to set up the defensive possession like he wanted; he even played some unusual lineup combinations to hopefully get the Rams to dig in. In the final two minutes, the coach finally found a strategy that would work -- he challenged his crew to show what kind of guts they had. Dockery must have yelled the phrase "it's gut-check time" 20 or 30 times (probably wasn't really that many), but the point was clear, the coach …

Patch High School Hoops Roundup: JBS Boys, St. Joe Girls Remain Unbeaten Heading Into Holiday Break

An inside look at what went down this week in local high school basketball, along with a look at what's coming up next week.

As the Missouri high school basketball season passes the quarter pole, two things have become crystal clear. The John Burroughs boys team is really good. And so is the St. Joseph's Academy girls team. Those points have been driven home emphatically, as both teams have begun the new season with unblemished records. The JBS boys are 7-0, following a sensational 56-45 win over O'Fallon Christian at the Terrell Ramey/Midwest Showdown Shootout at Lindenwood University last Saturday. That victory capped an incredible week for the Bombers, who won all three games they played, adding in triumphs over Brentwood (65-31, back on December 10) and Clayton (60-59 on Decmeber 13). Senior guard Foye Oluokun has been stuffing the stat sheet all year for …

Late Rally Falls Short, As Ladue Suffers Girls Hoops Loss To Notre Dame

Sophomores Cate Meyer and Kaitlynn Walker combined for 27 points and several big buckets for the Rams, but it wasn't enough to overcome Notre Dame's red-hot shooting from three-point land.

After losing star center Taylor Robinson at the beginning of December for an issue head coach Cord Dockery described as "personal time", the Ladue High girls basketball team has had to re-work its strategy and philosophy the last few weeks, at what for most teams would be the worst possible time -- right smack dab in the middle of the season. And with no definite idea when to expect the return of Robinson, a 6-foot-3 Temple University recruit who averaged 20 points and nine rebounds a game last season, Ladue has had only a few practices and even fewer games to try to figure out just how to play without her. Last week, it seemed like the Rams might've figured some things out, as they picked up two big wins over John Burroughs and Parkway …
