Just about every time the St. Joseph's Academy girls basketball team takes the floor, they will be the featured attraction. No matter how big or prestigious the event is, the St. Joe girls almost always draw top billing. It was that way at the Visitation Holiday Tournament over the break, where the Angels went 3-1 and took second place, following a championship game loss to No. 1 Incarnate Word Academy. No long trips to Arizona or Florida this year.
Head St. Joseph's Academy coach Julie Matheny has released the varsity basketball schedule for the 2012-13 season. While the team will be traveling to Kentucky, they won't be making a long holiday trip to either Arizona or Florida this year. They do have away games in Louisville, Charleston, MO and will play in the Visitiation Christmas Tournament and the Webster Groves Winter Challenge. Junior guard Emmie Haring made only one shot in the Prepcasts Girls Shootout IV but it was a good one. Facing a wide open look three pointer, she drained the shot, giving St. Joseph’s Academy its first lead since the early going in their battle with Ozark High School from Southwest Missouri.
