With 44 touchdowns last year, and 47 more this year, the Ohio State-bound star has scored 91 touchdowns the last two seasons.
Among the many honorees in nine different sports announced as 2012 All-Stars by Metro League commissioner Dory Smith on Monday, one announcement was no surprise at all. And that worst-kept secret of probably the entire 2012 Fall sports season was that John Burroughs running back Ezekiel Elliott -- the conference leader in rushing yards, total yards, all-purpose yards, and the St. Louis area leader in touchdowns -- was named Metro League Football Player of the Year, after a weekend vote conducted amongst the league's coaches. Elliott, who was a city-wide Player of the Year candidate last year, after scoring 44 touchdowns and leading the Bombers to their second straight Show-Me Bowl state title game, is widely considered the leading …

Senior wideout leads the undefeated Bombers with 16 catches for 325 yards and five receiving touchdowns this season.
Peter Schnuck, the former quarterback-turned-wide receiver for the No. 1-ranked team in Missouri Class 3 football, had perhaps his best game of the season two Fridays ago, when he caught four passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns in John Burroughs' 56-0 romp over Clayton. And this week, the 6'1, 175-pound senior earned another big win, as he cruised to victory in the Ladue-Frontenac Patch Week 8 MVP voting, easily topping other solid candidates Anna Nelson of Ladue cross country, Cooper Hudspeth of Villa Duchesne field hockey, and Klasey Medelberg of MICDS cross country. Here's just a little bit of what we found out about this week's MVP, Peter Schnuck of John Burroughs football: As a senior, who will graduate next spring, have you …

Zeke Elliott notches 3 more TDs; Peter Schnuck catches 2 TDs and adds an interception.
If they were to pass around game balls following the John Burroughs 56-0 demolition of Clayton Saturday, they’d have to have a lot of them. Many Bombers players on both offense and defense were worthy of recognition. Zeke Elliott scored 3 more TDs, adding to his gaudy total of 28 for the year. That’s 70 TDs the past two seasons for this senior star. Peter Schnuck caught 2 touchdown passes and had an interception. Linebackers Christian Bledsoe and Xavier Bledsoe and Solo Ceesay chased Greyhound QB Jake Brown all over the field. They didn’t yield a point in 4 quarters. Rushil Sheth was perfect on all of his 8 point after kicks. Be our friend on the Ladue-Frontenace Facebook page. But no resting on any laurels for this 7-0 team. They travel …

2 called back. Ohio State-bound speedster makes it all look easy.
Saturdays football showdown, John Burroughs at MICDS never had a chance. Ezekiel Elliott, the area’s leading scorer (23) TDs scored six times, one including a 65 yard punt return and the Bombers demolished their rivals the Rams, 55-7 Saturday on the MICDS home field. To make matter worse, two more Elliott TDs were called back because of penalties. There's room for improvement Burroughs Coach Gus Frerotte knows there’s still things to keep clean up in a 5-0 season. “Zeke was offsides the first time he scored, he knows better than that.” “ Elliott should be playing for Ohio State now, not the Bombers. He rushed 12 times for 222 yards. He makes those scores look easy, prancing into the end zone while tantalizing and teasing slower defenders. …

Bombers, one win away from a state football title, two years running.
Burroughs and MICDS have plenty in common in football. For one, they will clash in the annual showdown September 22, 2 p.m. on the Rams home turf. Both have key games with Maplewood. The Rams open once more with Maplewood while Burroughs closes the regular portion of the season at MRH October 19. Both teams lost key players to graduation. The bad news for coach Gus Frerotte is having to find a new quarterback to replace graduated Davey Holmes. Holmes threw for 2,403 yards and 32 TDs, good enough to reach the Show Me Bowl championships at the Edward Jones Dome last November. Senior Peter Schnuck should get the nod this fall. Playing a limited role, Schnuck was 19 for 39 for 257 yards and 4 TDs when not playing wide receiver. Obviously, the …

Bombers Ready To Heat Up Rivalry With MICDS.
John Burroughs Coach Gus Frerotte says his football squad is ready for their annual rivalry against MICDS at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 10. To Frerotte, the Bombers and MICDS are as hot as the recent 100 degree temperatures. As expected, the Bombers trounced host Principia, 57-0, on a steamy hot Saturday morning - a game that was played earlier in the day because of the heat. Both Burroughs and MICDS enter with 2-0 records. Burroughs defeated the Rams, 21-0, in last year's contest. "Last year was last year and this year will be a little different story," Frerotte said. "You can go back 10 years and see what happened. This year is a different year." MICDS, coming off a 5-5 season, is stronger while Burroughs is replacing 18 players from last season…
