Left-handed Joey Reeves kept Rams batters in check, scattering four hits over six frames.
At Parkway North, baseball is pretty much all in the family. The Vikings, a close-knit bunch muscled up for 8 hits and shut out the visiting Ladue Rams Monday, 6-0 on their home field. Left-handed, Joey Reeves, a sophomore with a 4-1 record and 2.75 ERA stymied Ladue batters scattering four hits before giving way to relief help in the top of the seventh. That pushes the Vikings record to 16-3, winners of the last 8 games. “We’re all Parkway North here,” said coach Fred Friedman, a 1998 Viking graduate. Friedman, and all the other coaches, Brett Katz, Mark Reeder, Mark Linn and JV coach Bob Bunton graduated from the school. Ladue clashes with Parkway North in baseball; all the local girls lacrosse teams take to the fields.
The rains need to clear out of the area and the fields need to dry up. We are heading into the month of May and the last month of high school competition. Starters Cornell Johnston and Andrew Maddock each had 13 points to lead the scoring, while bench guys Connor Spirtas and Jon Collins sparked the Rams' defensive effort against the high-scoring Vikings.
CREVE COEUR -- Heading into Friday night's early-season, non-conference showdown at Parkway North High School, Ladue High boys basketball coach Chad Anderson reminded his Rams that none of his teams had ever beaten Parkway North before. The Rams and Vikings always seem to play spirited contests whenever they match up in any sport. But for whatever reason, none of Anderson's teams had ever come out on top. That all changed on Friday though, as Anderson's Rams delivered perhaps their best performance of the season to claim a 68-53 victory over the Vikes. "I kind of wanted to use that as motivation," Anderson said, after earning his first win in five seasons as Ladue coach over Parkway North. "I wanted to remind them that these guys have …

Despite concerns over field conditions, Vikings and Rams combine for 23 hits and 13 runs in entertaining matchup of conference frontrunners.
After another massive downpour hit the area Monday morning, making the original game location at Ladue High School unplayable, it wasn't until late in the afternoon that the Rams and their hopeful gameday opponent, Parkway North, were able to find someplace else suitable to play. And then, even though the field at the former Westminster Christian Academy, now known as Ladue's West Campus looked fantastic, especially considering all the earlier rain, it took more than a half an hour to convince the game umpires that the playing surface was dry enough to play on. But once head coaches Rob Garrett of Ladue and Fred Friedman of Parkway North were able to convince the umps that the field was indeed safe, the Rams and Vikings staged a wildly …

Senior Darrell Johnson’s 13 points and 12 rebounds help carry Vikes to their fourth straight win to start the new season.
LADUE – With a number of other area teams receiving much of the early-season boys basketball hype, a pair of unbeaten teams flying just under the hype machine’s radar hooked up Friday night at Ladue High’s Nielson Gymnasium. The host Rams came in with a 3-0 record, after impressive wins over John Burroughs, Brentwood, and Normandy, while the visitors from Parkway North came in having swept all three games it played in the Parkway Tip-Off Classic. Something had to give. And something turned out to be the home team’s calm nerves, as Parkway North pushed and pressured Ladue into a night full of bad shots and turnovers, which eventually led the Vikings to a 41-31 win on the road. “What we’ve been winning on all year is because we defend,” …
