Fast Start, Strong Finish Carry Ladue Boys To Hoops Win Over Parkway North

Starters Cornell Johnston and Andrew Maddock each had 13 points to lead the scoring, while bench guys Connor Spirtas and Jon Collins sparked the Rams' defensive effort against the high-scoring Vikings.

CREVE COEUR -- Heading into Friday night's early-season, non-conference showdown at Parkway North High School, Ladue High boys basketball coach Chad Anderson reminded his Rams that none of his teams had ever beaten Parkway North before. The Rams and Vikings always seem to play spirited contests whenever they match up in any sport. But for whatever reason, none of Anderson's teams had ever come out on top. That all changed on Friday though, as Anderson's Rams delivered perhaps their best performance of the season to claim a 68-53 victory over the Vikes. "I kind of wanted to use that as motivation," Anderson said, after earning his first win in five seasons as Ladue coach over Parkway North. "I wanted to remind them that these guys have …

County Police: Third Attack May Be Linked to Rapes

St. Louis County Police urge people to come forward with reports on other attacks or information on possible suspects.

St. Louis County Police believe a third attack may be related to two rapes already linked to the same offender in the Creve Coeur and Maryland Heights area. The St. Louis County and Maryland Heights police departments hosted a town hall meeting Tuesday night at Parkway North High School to help inform residents about new developments. About 200 people attended the meeting, which included a free self-defense class led by volunteers from Midwest Krav Magra. “My 32 years of police work tells me this individual will not stop until he’s caught,” St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch told the crowd at the town hall meeting. He said he worked on the South Side Rapist case, which took 25 years to solve. “We want to get information out to people …

Defensive Pressure Proves Too Much As Parkway North Knocks Off Ladue In Boys Hoops

Senior Darrell Johnson’s 13 points and 12 rebounds help carry Vikes to their fourth straight win to start the new season.

LADUE – With a number of other area teams receiving much of the early-season boys basketball hype, a pair of unbeaten teams flying just under the hype machine’s radar hooked up Friday night at Ladue High’s Nielson Gymnasium. The host Rams came in with a 3-0 record, after impressive wins over John Burroughs, Brentwood, and Normandy, while the visitors from Parkway North came in having swept all three games it played in the Parkway Tip-Off Classic. Something had to give. And something turned out to be the home team’s calm nerves, as Parkway North pushed and pressured Ladue into a night full of bad shots and turnovers, which eventually led the Vikings to a 41-31 win on the road. “What we’ve been winning on all year is because we defend,” …

Ladue Water Polo Nabs A Pair Of Wins At Lafayette Tournament

After opening the season 0-5, Ladue's water polo team posted its first two victories at the Lafayette Invitational tournament this weekend.

The first few weeks of the 2011 schedule have been challenging for the Ladue water polo team, but they saw some success at a tournament hosted by Lafayette this weekend. The Rams entered the tournament 0-5, after drawing SLUH and De Smet for their first two games, and then heading to Chicago for a tournament of top regional teams. Despite the lack of victories, Ladue coach Corey Miller expects better things from his squad. And, after dropping the tournament opener to De Smet on Thursday, the Rams knocked off Parkway North and Lafayette in convincing fashion, before falling 11-9 to Parkway West, in a close game Saturday afternoon. The bracket results put Ladue in the third place game against MICDS on Saturday night, which they lost 8-7 in …
