Jack Kurzu, 285 pound tackle from MICDS has been again given the honor of being named to the 45-man roster of Team USA (an NFL Organization). This honor is reserved for the country's most promising football players. Last week, the organization made the announcement that another local player Chase Abbington of Ft. Giant junior tackle decides early after reviewing more than 20 schools.
Bob Kurzu played tackle for the University of Florida team in the Charlie Pell era of the 1980s. But that wasn’t enough to convince his son Jack, 6-foot-4, 305 pound tackle from MICDS to head to the swamp. After looking over some 20 college choices, Jack Kurzu donned the orange baseball cap of the Oklahoma State Cowboys, much to the delight of his friends and teammates. Kurzu made it official on Wednesday before a gathering of teammates from the Rams football program. Kurzu is considering plans to enrolling at Stillwater for spring football and those issues remain to be settled. The offers were wide ranging. Oklahoma State Cowboys were at Ladue's homecoming Saturday.
Three-star wide receiver Jehu Chesson has a top-five list, and Northwestern is in the mix. He is one of the top prospects in the U.S. as rated by MaxPreps. The 6-foot-4 wide receiver from Ladue remains one of the top prospects for football recruiting this fall. Chesson is looking at pass-happy programs like Missouri, Illinois and the Wildcats. Oklahoma State had a recruiter at Saturday's homecoming where Ladue thrashed Affton 48-0. Chesson stars on the Rams basketball team and is a key member of the track team, anchoring several relays.
