Decision announced on live television. Leaving Mizzou behind was not easy to do.
Zeke Elliott, clearly the most talented football player in John Burroughs history, who rushed for 4,000 career yards and 70 TDs the past two seasons announced on live television that he was taking his talents to The Ohio State University. It would be fair to say, that broke the collective hearts of Mizzou Tiger fans. It was not a great surprise to Zeke’s class mates. To the student, they all said OSU--for sure. His dad, Stacy Elliott’s red tie was a dead give-away of the decision. More photos on the Ladue-Frontenac Facebook page. Probably there are two or three big reasons why Elliott chose the Buckeyes. First, Urban Meyer does a great job of developing backs who both run and catch the ball. That had particular appeal to No. 2 in a …

That leaves Burroughs Zeke Elliott the chance to bolt to Mizzou.
The rumor mill is running rampant around the country with National Signing Date occurring in the morning. The Mansfield (Ohio) News Journal reports about how five highly-prized recruits have been flipped to Ohio State. The latest is big time running back Dontre Wilson of DeSoto, TX who broke the hearts of Oregon fans to head to Columbus. So where does that leaved prized back Ezekiel Elliott of Burroughs? He isn't saying, but he will at a televised conference at Burroughs later today at 4 o'clock. Could this be another classic Dorial Green-Beckham, Springfield's star receiver who skipped out on Arkansas for the Tigers at the last moment. These kinds of things happen every year. Missouri Net weighs in on this too.

This senior from Burroughs learned valuable lessons on his mystical football journey through life.
Ezekiel Elliott, Burroughs Wonder-kind football star learned some tough but valuable lessons Saturday. He was one of 90 players selected to play in the 13th annual U.S. Army All-Star football game in San Antonio. These hand-picked stars were the best in the land. In life, and in sports in general, lessons are plentiful to learn. Athletes have to persevere; fight through injuries, adversity and rejection. Zeke learned some valuable lessons in that 48 minute of competition on the turf of the Alamodome in San Antonio. He found that even with his bountiful talents, coaches felt others were more needed. Unless viewers had it wrong, No.24 didn’t even get into the game until 3:21 left in the first quarter. He didn’t reappear until midway …

JBS senior is flying to Texas on Sunday morning, after being selected to play in the nation’s premier high school football all-star game, which will be televised nationwide on January 5 on NBC.
While many of his teammates and classmates will be celebrating New Year’s in the typical fashion high school kids do, John Burroughs football star Ezekiel Elliott will be ringing in 2013 in a way very few ever get to do. The JBS senior, who starred as a running back/kick returner for a Bombers teams that made three straight trips to the Missouri Class 3 state championhip game, and amassed more than 3,000 all-purpose yards and scored 50 touchdowns this past season alone, has been invited to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on January 5 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Elliott, a unanimous choice for the Ladue-Frontenac Patch Fall MVP Burroughs Star dominates the state track meet in Jeff City The U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which is …

Future Ohio State star capped his high school career with 419 all-purpose yards and set several other Show-Me Bowl records.
ST. LOUIS -- Even as the tears streamed down his face, John Burroughs senior football star Ezekiel Elliott stepped forward and did the one thing nobody else on his team wanted to do -- he accepted the second place trophy following the Bombers’ 35-22 loss to Maryville in the MSHSAA Class Show-Me Bowl, Friday afternoon at the Edward Jones Dome. Check out the game photos on the Ladue-Frontenac Patch. After four years of pain and sweat, and three straight heart-aching Show-Me Bowl losses, no one of the Burroughs team wanted anything to do with that second place trophy. But just as he had all season, and throughout his brilliant career as a Bomber, Elliott stepped up and did what I had to be done. “I had to be strong for my teammates,” Elliott …

He could make a difference in the Ohio State offense one year from now.
Ezekiel Elliott of John Burroughs is a gifted athlete. He is the fastest person on two feet on both a football field and an oval track. He's already scored 8 touchdowns this year. And he makes it look so easy. "It looks like he's not even running out there," said his coach Gus Frerotte moments after the Bombers got done destroying Lutheran South 35-0 earlier this week in a game cut short by thunder and possible lightning. Elliott clearly dominated the Class 3 state track meet last spring, bringing home championships in both the hurdles and the sprints. Inbetween those seasons, he stars in basketball too. He worked from a gigantic list of prospective football programs before casting his lot last spring with the Ohio State University. He …

Top prospect in the area makes his football signing decision early.
Ezekiel Elliott, three-sport phenom from John Burroughs School has made it official, he gave a verbal commitment to play football at the Ohio State University next fall. He left in his wake some two dozen schools who coveted his running back talents. Clearly, Elliott was the hottest prospect anywhere in St. Louis this coming season. He has one more year at Burroughs. Besides leading the area in touchdowns and rushing, he made all conference in basketball and is the fastest hurdler in the St. Louis region. His talents will be on display this coming weekend at the Skippy Keefer Relays at Burroughs Saturday. "I felt comfortable there (in Columbus) with the team, the coaches, the administrators. I even met the president of the school. Ohio …
