Class 5, District 2 title game Thursday between the Markers and St. Joe Angels.
Laying a trap for the Angels. Nerinx Hall has two complete days of rest before facing the St. Joe Angles for the Class 5, District 2 championship game against nemesis St. Joseph’s Academy Thursday night at Ladue. That game, which tips off at 7 p.m. will be for all the marbles. “Oh, we’ve been preparing for that game a long time ago. Not with just a couple of days,” said the Nerinx coach Mike Slater. Of course, Nerinx was not thinking ahead of a game with the Angels, having to meet Ladue last night in a semifinal game. Ladue’s Taylor Robinson, who has inked a scholarship with Temple University wasn’t going down without a fight. She led everyone in scoring with 23 points. The moment of frustration came late in the game. Robinson hauled down …

Is theater important for students today? Was it important for you? Should it be stressed in high school? More than 120 students around the region learned about how to do theater criticism for the 29 shows they'll review this school year.
Everyone's a critic? Well, for 120 students from high schools throughout St. Louis and St. Charles counties, they're not officially critics until they've gotten their training from The Cappies, the national student theater critics program. Students from 15 area high schools converged on Rockwood Summit High School on Saturday for a morning of training in how to write reviews, the rules of The Cappies program and tips on theater etiquette. Patch tagged along to find out why some of the aspiring scribes think theater is important in their lives, their schools and the world. Check the photo captions to see what students from around the region answered. Do you agree? Offer your replies in the comments below. Was theater important to you in …

Sally Lemkemeier, Ladue resident is director of the Arch City Theater Troupe.
Know any CEOs who are 16 years old? The Ladue-Frontenac Patch found one—sort of. Meet Sally Lemkemeier, director, producer and talent with the Arch City Theater Troupe of St. Louis. Arch City is geared entirely to young students (ages 10-18) and based out of John Burroughs School in Ladue. Lemkemeier is going into her junior year at the school on South Price Road. She is the director and producer of Arch City, lock, stock and barrel. This is everything but a salaried position. No matter, this effervescent student eats, drinks and practices theater around the clock. She sings, she dances and she gained a love for the arts from her parents Mary and John and her maternal grandmother. She would dearly love to follow in the footsteps of two …

The Angels claimed the championship of the Class 5, District 3 tournament with a strong attack led by sisters Morgan, and Maddie Stock.
St. Joseph’s clinched the Class 5, District 3 championship Friday night with a 56-37 win over Nerinx Hall, at Webster Groves High School. The Angels claimed the district title behind a dynamic attack, featuring 17 points from sophomore Sydney Stipanovich, and strong outside shooting from junior sisters, Morgan, and Maddie Stock. “I don’t know many girls who shoot like Maddie and Morgan,” said St. Joe’s coach Julie Matheny, “they come off screens, they square, they’re in range from all spots, and with that kind of outside game it kind of forces opponents to pick their poison.” Matheny paid respect to Nerinx, who finished the season 13-14, and attempted to keep the game close by getting physical early on. The tough play inside pushed St. Joe…

Thank YOU Patch for bringing the creativity and efforts of our theatre students to their family, friends, and all of the theatre patrons who read your publication.
