The school will receive tickets to see the NFL team next fall.
The St. Louis Rams have announced that Ladue Middle School is one of three schools in the area to be named 2013 Character Fitness Model Schools. Tigers have had a strong showing in the NFL, especially since the 1970s.
No doubt, with a 5-7 season, the Mizzou Tigers had a disappointing launch in the Southeast Conference (SEC). The inability to get six wins and earn a birth in a bowl game was painful. Still, the Tigers have had rich and proud heritage, especially when earning post-season recognition and putting players into the National Football League. Presently, the Tigers have three quarterbacks on active rosters: Blaine Gabbert, Jacksonville; Brad Smith, Buffalo (QB and wide receiver); and Chase Daniel, New Orleans. Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia, and Denario Alexander, San Diego, have become two premier receivers in the NFL. Sean Weatherspoon, linebacker for Atlanta, is a key member of the Falcons playoff-team defense. Two Tigers are enshrined in the NFL…

For the first time in modern history, I must say I agreed with something that came out of Rush Limbaugh's mouth.
Tickle me with a feather. In my entire adult life, I have never agreed with one solitary word that Rush Limbaugh has uttered on the EIB (Excellence in Broadcasting) Network. Never, ever. Some would question my sanity at all why I even listen to this bafoon on the radio. As a side note, here’s why. When Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz are bashing El Rushbo on PSMBC as the Great One calls it, I want to know exactly what he said on KMOX’ 50,000 red hot watts between 11 and 2 so I understand exactly what they are referencing. I live by the belief: keep your friends closer, and your enemies closer. That said, Rush was on a diatribe Monday about the Washington Redskins playing their quarterback Robert Griffin III with a badly injured leg. OMG, I …

The St. Louis Rams and Minnesota Vikings are among the National Football League teams recognizing the events which unfolded in Newtown, CT Friday.
The National Football League is honoring the memory of those lost in the Newtown, Connecticut shootings Friday, when a gunman took the lives of 26 people, including 20 children at Sandy Hook Elementary School before killing himself. The St. Louis Rams, and the Minnesota Vikings held a moment of silence Sunday afternoon prior to kickoff at the Edward Jones Dome. The head coaches for both teams gathered at midfield and held and held hands with Daryl Richardson and Antoine Winfield. Both players wear the number 26 on their jerseys. The New York Giants, New York Jets, and New England Patriots were among other teams planning Newtown tributes this weekend.

The Rams will be represented by some of the area's top prep talents at a national 7-on- 7 tournament this week.
Candidly, the closest anyone from the St. Louis Rams organization got to an NFL championship in Indianapolis last season was the contingent of team personnel who visited Indiana for the Super Bowl. Now, an all-star cast of high school standouts from CBC to Francis Howell hopes to do more than represent the city of St. Louis and the Rams organization in the NFL's High School Player Development program's 7-on-7 national tournament, when play begins Friday at the Indianapolis Colts' practice facility. "It's game week!" Kyle Eversgerd, the Rams' Fan Development Coordinator, and a co-Head Coach for the squad crowed to his new pupils prior to a workout at Continuity X Training Center in Earth City. For the uninitiated, 7-on-7 is a chance for …

Sports and good food make Lester's Sports Bar and Grill a winner.
Walking into Lester’s Sports Bar & Grill, 9606 Clayton Rd., one knows that this is not an ordinary sports bar. Maybe it's walking by the statue of the iconic Stan Musial out front. Maybe it’s the 62 flat screen televisions that adorn the walls of the bar and restaurant area, including the ones over the urinals in the men’s room to insure no play goes unnoticed. Built in 2007 by St. Louis entrepreneur Lester Miller, Lester’s could make a sports fan out of a non-believer, probably because no matter where one looks, there’s a game of some sort playing. Patrons might actually believe they are attending the Big Game. A huge four-sided stadium-style scoreboard with score updates forms the center of the bar. Booths in the dining room each …

Live blog from Ozzie's, where Pittsburgh fans are converging to watch the big game.
-That Rashard Mendenhall fumble is a huge blow to momentum, and “Go Pack Go” fills the air waves again. This game is unbelievably tense. Biggest stage, and one quarter to go. Aaron Rodgers needs to ask himself, WWTBD? Better known in New England as, What would Tom Brady do? -Aaron Rodgers officially answered the call, shaking off some bad throws to throw a strike to Jordy Nelson, who gets inside the five yard line. Do or die time for Steelers, they need to hold Green Bay to a field goal. -And they don’t. Touchdown Greg Jennings, that could be the game. The fans downstairs are going through beers at a rapid rate following that score. Same story upstairs, but the beers are a product of nervous energy. Either way, Ozzie’s wins. -Pittsburgh’s …

Here's a top ten list of restaurants and bars to watch the big game this Sunday.
With all the uncertainty surrounding the 2011 NFL season due to the lockout that could happen on account of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Super Bowl XLV could be the last chance to enjoy a game, so make sure to do it right. Not everyone likes to watch football, however, so before diving in to a list of the best places in the St. Louis area to go for the championship game, here's a few things non-fans can do to enjoy this Sunday a different way. The nice thing about the end of the NFL season is that it falls in February, which is right when Oscar favorites are getting their second wind in theaters. Now is your chance to see the year's best films, and there's no better place to do so than at the Moolah Theater on Lindell Blvd., right…
