Ladue Police Chief Has His Eye Out for Home Burglars

There are so many do's and don't to make your home safe from invaders.

Like us on the Ladue-Frontenac Facebook page. Recently in Ladue some homeowners have been victims of burglaries in the areas of Old Warson Road, along south Price Road and south Warson Road. Actually, these have not been out of the ordinary. Ladue had 21 residential burglaries in 2012 the same as 2011. In reality, theft from retail businesses (shoplifting) remains the No. 1 crime in Ladue statistically year in and year out. Ladue’s police chief Rich Wooten believes an ounce of prevention can be better than a pound of cure. “If a burglar truly wants to break into your home, he’s going to be able to do that.” Burglars are opportunists Wooten says home burglars are opportunists. Monday, January 7, 2013 8:48 a.m. Two automobiles were involved in an accident on eastbound Highway 40/64. Injuries were involved but one of the victims declined any medical service. 4:11 p.m. Groceries were stolen from the Schnucks store at 8867 Ladue Rd. in the Crossing at Ladue. A 68 year old female was arrested and charged and released on a summons. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 11:31 a.m. An 18 year old male was arrested for possession of Marijuana at Ladue Horton Watkins High School. No information is available until charges are issued by St. Louis County. Monday, December 24, 2012 10:35 a.m.  Police responded to a request that a male subject had not been heard from for a week in the 900 block of Hollister Court. The brother of the caller was found deceased but no foul play was suspected. 9:32 p.m. Police officers responded to a 911 assault case. The incident turned out to be verbal in nature. Tuesday, December 25, 2012 1:09 a.m. A male, age 28 was arrested for DWI on Westbound 64 at Clayton Road. Wednesday, December 26, 2012 8:39 a.m. Residents reported basement windows broken at a home in the 200 block of North Price Road. Windows were damaged, nothing was stolen. Tuesday, October 9, 2012 1:35 a.m. A male, age 57 was stopped on westbound I-64 at Lindbergh and charged with DWI. 9:19 a.m. The driver involved in a two-dar hit and run left the scene and was not arrested. There is no description of the escaped car. Wednesday, October 10, 2012 7:44 a.m. Four cars were involved in a pileup on westbound I-64 at McKnight. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 9:40 a.m. A purse, snatched sometime overnight from an unlocked automobile on Winwood Drive was reported stolen. The contents of the purse are unknown. 12:18 p.m. A larceny occurred on Glen Cairn Drive. Two large leaf blowers were stolen from the property. 4:32 p.m. A shop lifting was reported at the Old Navy Store at 800 Ladue Rd in the Ladue Crossing Center. Monday, June 18, 2012 9:27 p.m. A car went out control and crashed into the retaining wall on eastbound I-64 at Lindbergh. Tuesday, June 19, 2012 7:11 a.m. A larceny occurred on Brynwood Lane. A GPS was stolen out of an unlocked automobile. 1:12 p.m. A prisoner was handed over from the Pine Lawn Police at 1414 Evergreen Avenue, wanted on outstanding warrants in Ladue. It was a male prisoner, no date of birth was recorded. Wednesday June 20, 2012 4:49 a.m. Ladue and Olivette police were involved in the arrest of three suspicion persons in several neighborhoods. Undetermined items were stolen from the school over the weekend. 10:46 a.m. A male student assaulted a teacher at the Litzsinger School at 10,094 Litzsinger Road in Ladue. No other information was available. 2:27 p.m. A prisoner was transported from the Creve Coeur Police Department, wanted in Ladue for several traffic warrants. Tuesday, May 22, 2012 3:33 a.m. Police were alerted to a suspicious person in the backyard of a home on Willow Hill Road. This is the Ladue Police Blotter, week of April 23-29, 2012 Thursday, April 26, 2012 9:53 a.m. a two car accident occurred on southbound I-170 at Forest Park. No injuries were reported. 11:58 a.m. Another accident occurred on southbound I-170, this time at Ladue Road. Two cars were involved. There was minor damage to the cars and no injuries were reported. 4:00 p.m. Police made a traffic stop at Godwin Lane at southbound McKnight Road.
