MICDS Falls To Kirkwood In First Hockey Game Of New Year

Rams were outshot 34-11 by the Pioneers, who got two goals and an assist from sophomore Michael Davies in 3-1 win.

AFFTON -- Even while giving up three times as many shots as they were able to take, the MICDS ice hockey team was just a goal away from securing at least a tie in its New Year's night Mid-States Hockey Association matchup against Kirkwood. So when the Rams were granted a power play with about 90 seconds left in the game, the decision was made for MICDS to pull its goalie and attack the Pioneers with a 6 against 4 advantage. Unfortunately, that ploy didn't work, as Kirkwood sophomore Michael Davies gained possession of the puck inside the MICDS zone, and scored an empty net goal with eight seconds left that gave the Pioneers a hard-fought 3-1 win over the Rams. The defeat was MICDS' third in its last four games, and dropped the Rams to 5-7-…

All MICDS in 47-12 Romp Over Soldan in Class 4 First Round Playoff Game

MICDS quarterback Thomas Militello was definitely under the weather. He had been treated for strep throat for 24 hours. Being hot and sweaty was no deterrence as he fired four more TD passes in a running clock shortened 47-12 win over hapless Soldan in the first round of the Class 4 football playoffs on the Kirkwood Pioneer field. The Rams, 11-0 win the rights to play Ladue for the second time in the state quarterfinals Monday night. Ladue roughed up Vashon 35-18 at Sumner last night. The rematch of an earlier 56-55 win for MICDS will be Monday night at 7 p.m. at St. Louis U. High. Minutes after the game ended on the artificial turf of Kirkwood, the plug was pulled on the stadium lights, throwing the whole place into darkness. The Rams …

I could not agree more. Hopeful Deavin Edwards returns to form to face MICDS monday night. Crowd at Kirkwood last night was sparse. Need a lot more on both sides at SLUH on Monday.   more ›
