Part II: Anne Allred Talks About What it Takes to Find a Niche in Local Television News

Allred returns to anchor the news in St. Louis after working for the NBC affiliate in Boston for six years.

Yesterday, Anne Allred talked about returning to St. Louis and becoming the co-anchor of the 5 o'clock news on KSDK Channel 5 with Mike Bush. Today, Allred talks about what it takes to get into the business and the challenges she met along the way. Patch: What are some skills a good TV reporter should learn in school? AA: A student should be writing all the time. You have to love to write and be a strong writer first and foremost. You also have to be naturally curious and always be asking Why? Villa's Anne Allred Returns to St. Louis Television News

Allred, 2000 graduate of Villa Duchesne will co-anchor the 5 o'clock report with Mike Bush.

Villa Duchesne students return to school Monday with good news, one of their own will be starring on local television. Anne Allred, daughter of Allan and Dawn Peterman-Allred will co-anchor the 5 o'clock news with Mike Busch on KSDK-TV, Channel 5. Allred worked at stations in Columbus, Ohio, North Carolina and Boston. Word of her return was first announced by Joe Holleman on St.L Today.  A graduate of the Ohio State University, she is looking forward to being reunited with family and friends.

Garbage Bag Gala Raises Awareness About Homelessness

The Salvation Army ran a fashion show at the Moonrise Hotel to raise awareness about homelessness. Designers and models featured fashions made entirely of trash bags and duct tape.

Trash bag couture. That’s what the Moonrise Hotel and The Salvation Army St. Louis served up Friday night at the Garbage Bag Gala. The Project Runway-like event highlighted The Salvation Army's homeless services as models showcased creations made of garbage bags and duct tape, created by some of St. Louis's top fashion designers. Models took both casual and evening wear looks to the runway, turning trash into high fashion. Grieving Priory School Community Coming Together

KSDK reports special programs are being planned to help students and others impacted by the death of Brandon Hsueh.

According to KSDK-TV, Brandon Hsueh, the 13 year-old Priory School student who died Friday following a car accident during a Wednesday cross-country training exercise, will be remembered in a pair of programs at the school this week and next. In a statement from the school's Headmaster, Father Michael Brunner told the station that a Sunday event with grief counselors would offer help to students and parents, and that an all school mass next Friday will be a "Requiem Mass for Brandon." Funeral arrangements were being made through Lupton Chapel and were not available late Friday. KSDK also reported that off-campus running for Hsueh's age group has been suspended.
