Mrs. Fisher Cat visits to help the children celebrate the day.
Mrs. Fisher Cat from Calico Critters came to Imagination Toys in Ladue to help celebrate the stores first birthday. Saturday was a day of snacks and treats; balloons, a visit with the cat and of course lots of new toys for children to oggle and in some cases, take home. Owner Polly Lett and her well versed staff celebrated in style. Here's a look around the store at the first birthday celebration.

Kids are enthralled with this hot new game of skill.
Tour Ambassadors Grace and Amanda from Buffalo, NY made a visit Friday to the Imagination toys in Ladue Friday. By the number of kids on hand, and by the smiles on their faces, this visit made a big hit. Children have to negotiate a track with a tiny steel roller ball, all enclosed inside a round plastic case. They got a chance to oggle a giant demonstration model too. The ambassadors registered the children for group contests, and winners went home proudly displaying a brand new SuperPlexus game. This is how it looked to a bunch of pre-teens at Imagination Toys in Ladue.

Creve Coeur resident Polly Lett buys the place, lock, stock and barrel.
Polly Lett went to Imagination Toys at 9737 Clayton Rd. in the Ladue Market Place to purchase a single toy and end up buying a toy store. Right before the holidays were fully underway, long-time owners of Imagination Toys, Marge and Dave Versprille announced to the world their 26-year run at ownership would end. If there was going to be a new owner come forth, fine, and if not the operation would cease for good. The Versprille’s had not developed any formal exit strategy after operating their store in Ladue for 26 years. The final day of business was January 4, 2012. In the waning days of operation, toys were flying off the shelf literally. By closing time on the 4th, all that remained were empty shelves and display kiosks. Sometimes, one …
