Senior was a key member of the JBS football squad that made three straight trips to the state championship game, and is now leading the boys basketball team in scoring for the second straight year.
Until the final day of voting last Thursday, all five Patch MVP candidates were still in the running for our weekly top athlete award. But on that final day, the folks from John Burroughs just took over the ballot and made sure their candidate, football and basketball star Foye Oluokun, walked away with the award. Foye wound up getting 64 percent of the total votes cast, and became one of our biggest landslide Patch MVP winners ever. This week, we were able to catch up with Foye, and learned a whole lot of awesome things about one of Burroughs' top student-athletes. Here's just some of what we found out about Foye Oluokun, our Winter Week 2 Patch MVP Athlete of the Week: Patch: Even though you have been a standout player on both JBS' …

John Burroughs School Girls Lacrosse to Meet Ursuline in Midwest Lacrosse Final Saturday.
A close game up to the final minutes, John Burroughs School Bombers pulled off the win over the St Joseph Academy Angels, 10-6 Thursday night at Lindenwood University. After scoring in succession each taking their turn, the game was tied at the half, 4-4. Ball control and possession was very even with both teams showing discipline on both offense and defense. First goal of the second half was quick, after a couple of minutes of play at 23:22 by Charlotte Martin of JBS to break the deadlock. St Joe came back soon after at 20:06 with Katie Carl scoring to Tie it at 5-5. These first few minutes of the second half signified that the game would continue to be a close battle It was St Joe next with a goal by Amanda Hoffmeyer at 16:62 to regain …

They're ready to fight for the championship starting Saturday and culminating May 21st.
The first time it’s been done in Girls Lacrosse; a perfect regular season. In the short five-year history of girl’s varsity lacrosse in the State of Missouri, there hasn’t been an unbeaten team going into the playoffs. This year the honor of being the first unbeaten team goes to the Ladue Rams. At the midwest championship tournament meeting Tuesday night, the Rams picked up the No. 1 seed and a bye in the first round that started Thursday. This Saturday at 11:00 am the Rams play at John Burroughs School. All of the early round games are at JBS or MICDS. The semifinal and final games will be played at Lindenwood college in St Charles. Ladue’s head varsity coach Allison Reisner was voted coach of the year at the meeting. Her praise was all…

Rams are ranked number one in the state.
They’ve put on quite a show this year as the remaining unbeaten team in girls Lacrosse. Yesterday’s game versus Parkway North started off with a Ladue behind in a 2-0 deficit. “The girls must be thinking of the Burroughs game” said Ladue Activities Director Kurt Knoedelseder. Soon, with concentration regained, the girls went onto defeat the Vikings 16-4. Scoring for Ladue was Paige Mastorakos (4 goals, 1 assist) Carter Newton (3 goals 2 assists) , Hannah Mastorakos (3 goals), Parker Harrington, (2 goals 3 assists) Elena Gresick (2 goals one assist) Lily Hustava (2 goals one assist). Becca Langsam was in goal for the rams and chalked up the win with 8 saves. Scoring for the Parkway North Vikings was Samantha Thomas with 3 goals and Renee …

With a barn-burner of a game, Ladue Girls' Varsity Lacrosse beats arch-rival MICDS to remain undefeated This Season.
Crash, crash, crash. An auto accident? No, just some of the player communication heard during Saturday’s battle for the bragging rights on Warson Road. After years of coming up short, Ladue topped MICDS 6-5 in a well attended lacrosse match on their home field at Ladue Middle School. MICDS is a perennial favorite drawing girl athletes from all over the metro St Louis area. But this year it was upstart Ladue and a burgeoning girls lacrosse program that's been gaining attention. Scoring goals for Ladue were Carter Newton (2), Parker Harrington (1), Elena Gresick (1), Hannah Mastorakos (1) and Paige Mastorakos (1). Becca Langsam was the winning goalie. Scoring for MICDS were Hannah Akre (2), Allison Weisenfels (2) and Katherine Stone (1). …

This column follows high school hockey for MICDS, Burroughs and Ladue.
Ladue The Ladue Rams had a tough week heading into Christmas, with hard-fought losses in games versus St. Charles West and Clayton. In last Friday's 5-2 loss to St. Charles West, the Rams started the game complacent and weren't able to recover, coach Eli Grant said. "We did not have a great start," he said. "They got two early goals, including a shorthanded goal at the end of the first. It's hard to win games coming out of the gate sluggish." The slow start was unfortunate, as the Rams outplayed St. Charles West in the second half of the game. The Rams' Charlie Jonas played a very well-rounded game at both ends of the ice, but St. Charles West's goalie Curtis Vitale stopped 26 shots, and their forward Shane Faerber tallied a hat trick to …
