Local Charities Release Holiday Cards for a Cause

Buy your annual holiday cards from a local charity this year.

Every holiday season, families across the country send cards to their loved ones, filling them in on the last year and wishing them a happy new one.  For families planning to buy holiday cards this year, nonprofit organizations around the area are offering unique cards that benefit their missions. That way, each card sends holiday cheer while supporting a worthy cause. Here is our round-up of holiday cards for charity. Ladue Schnucks Celebrates Hanukkah

The event will feature storytelling, music and chocolate.

The Schnucks Ladue Crossing shopping center will host a celebration of Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish Festival of Light, on Dec.  6. The event, held from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in the shopping center, will feature students of the H.F. Epstein Hebrew Academy Chois, who will sing Hanukkah songs. Rabbi Avi Greene, headmaster at Epstein, and Jackie Oppenheimer, teacher at Epstein, will also join students in a Hanukkah story-telling session. Hanukkah Celebration at Barnes & Noble is Enjoyed By Jewish and Non-Jewish Alike

Children sang traditional Jewish songs at the annual Hanukkah Celebration.

A large crowd enjoyed a special Hanukkah singing presentation and children enjoyed storytelling at the annual Hanukkah Celebration at Barnes and Noble Booksellers. This free event is now in its 18th year. “The crowd gets bigger and bigger every year,” said Claudette Kirk, property manager for DESCO Group who hosted this event. The merchants at Schnucks Ladue Crossing sponsored the celebration. Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday. It begins the evening of December 20th this year and is an eight-day celebration of the Festival of the Lights. Jewish people light a special menorah for eight days.The first night one candle is lit. Then two on the second night and each consecutive night one more candle is lit until all eight are lit.  The Hanukkah …
