This project is expected to affect traffic on Ladue Road just east of I-170. Here are pictures of what contractors have been up to so far.
We told you a few weeks ago about likely traffic delays in September on Ladue Road just east of I-170. That's because contractors plan to construct a crosswalk linking a massive sidewalk project on either side of Ladue. The crosswalk is in the area of Ladue Road at Hunter Avenue just east of the Schnucks Ladue Crossing Center. EARLIER STORY: Sidewalk Construction Project at Hunter Avenue Means Delayed Traffic During September The sidewalk project is part of the Great Rivers Greenway project and includes construction of a new stamped, colored and concrete crosswalk located on Ladue Road. Ladue Road will be narrowed to one lane while a new crosswalk is being built.
Currently, a two-mile long, 10-foot wide concrete pedestrian/bicycle trail construction project is underway in the City of Ladue. This project is known as the Centennial Greenway, connecting trails from University City all the way to Creve Coeur Park. The project is located east of I-170 from Shaw Park to Olive Boulevard. The project includes construction of a new stamped, colored and concrete crosswalk located on Ladue Road, 800 feet east of I-170. "We're just building small sections as we go," said Patrick Owens, project manager with Great Rivers Greenway. The segment is part of a planned 20-mile trail expected to eventually stretch from Forest Park to the upper Mississippi River in St. Charles County. Two sections of the trail already are in place. The first opened a couple of years ago at the intersection of Interstate 170 and Olive Boulevard—"basically a streetscape with lighting and street trees and a broad sidewalk," Owens said. The second connects Forest Park to the Delmar Loop, running along Forsyth and into Washington University. It wrapped up last year…

The St. Louis area is fast turning into a cycling mecca. Whether it’s mountain biking up a steep, heavily-wooded hill or pedaling around the lake on a flat, paved trail, dozens of trails have something to offer every cycling interest. The Katy Trail is always an easy ride that cyclists can hop on and follow to their heart’s content or to the limit of their legs’ endurance. But there are dozens of smaller trails throughout metro St. Louis that provide a workout or great views of rivers, bluffs, wildlife and fall foliage. Here’s 10 places to check out from your bike seat this fall. Surface: Asphalt Length: 8.25 miles Grant’s Trail extends from Kirkwood through Crestwood, Affton and Mehlville, connecting to a BMX park, Grant’s Farm, St. Louis…
