St. Joe swimmer Grace Stiegemeyer got to drink from the Holy Grail of the state swim meet last February. She and the other giddy members of the 200 meter freestyle relay got to stand on the top spot of the medal stand, winning gold medals for their stunning first-place performance. Now this junior would like to do it again. Already, she’s a state qualifier in the 50 and 500 meter freestyle events. Thursday, she touched first in four events and St. Joe took down swim rival Villa Duchesne in a duel, 126-49 at Chaminade. Villa is rebuilding. CLAYTON -- At the MSHSAA state championship swim meet last February, the St. Joseph's Academy girls team finished a surprising ninth overall and even brought home a state title by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay. This season, head coach Khannie Dastgah believes she has a team that can place even higher at the state meet and several swimmers that could win individual titles if they continue to progress as they have since last season. "I'm so lucky to be coaching at St. Joe," Dastgah said. "These girls really put in the work. They practice three hours a day, five days a week. And they have great unity.
