Final NTSB Safety Report Has Been Issued for Teutenberg Fatal Family Plane Crash

Pilot error cited in the final report by the NTSB.

The final NTSB (National Transportation & Safety Board) report has been issued concerning the plane crash and death of 7 members of the late Fred Teutenberg, Jr. family of Niceville, FL in the Panhandle area of Florida. Teutenberg was a 1987 graduate of MICDS, his wife Terresa graduated from Francis Howell North High School in 1991. This is the report issued by the NTSB. The report finds that the pilot approached the airport in Demopolis, Alabama too low and too far out. Teutenberg was a highly-qualified pilot and current in his training and all indications, quite competent at the controls. The family was returning home in a Cesna 421C on Saturday, July 9, 2011. The seven members of the late Fred Teutenberg family of Niceville, Fla., originally from St. Louis will be memorialized Friday in their adopted hometown. In a report in the Northwest Florida Times, the Niceville United Methodist Church will hold a celebration of life service at 1 p.m. Friday at the family’s church at 214 Partin Drive South in Niceville (near Destin, Fla). Fred, his wife Terresa Teutenbert and their five children perished in a fiery plane crash just short of the runway in Demopolis, Ala. late Saturday night. They were returning from a weekend family reunion in St. Louis. The Rev.
