Lex Kaplan suspended; Rams have to play without his services.
It was not the way the Ladue Rams had intended to end a great season. John Ceriotti delivered a walk-off RBI single in the home-half of the 9th inning to edge the visiting Rams 2-1 in the district champipmnship game at St. Louis U. High. For SLUH, this registers their 23rd consecutive district title. Earlier this year on April 11, Ladue blanked SLUH, 4-0. The Rams were without the services of senior center fielder Lex Kaplan. He was ejected from Monday's semifinal win over Webster Groves with just one out to go. Serving a one-game suspension, the Rams played without his services. Still, Ladue finished the season with a lofty 18-4 mark. SLUH moves on with a 22-4 record. Here's Nate Latsch, reporter for St.L Today's account of this very …

Jayson Tatum scores 14 of his 16 points in the second half. Chaminade beats Ladue, 64-55.
Tatum Time, just in time. Jayson Tatum, the much talked about freshman sensation at Chaminade was mostly silent in the first half of the Class 5, District 2 championship game before a packed house at Ladue Friday night. Tatum scored just two points in the opening half. But he was a scoring machine in the last 16 minutes and hit 10 of 14 free throws in the closing minutes to lead Chaminade (18-8) over Ladue (21-6) 64-55 to collect the first-place hardware. Nothing came as a surprise to Red Devil coach Kelvin Lee. “Jayson played like a freshman in the first half,” said Lee, moments after the first-place trophy was hoisted. In the second half, he nailed 18 points, wiping out a Ladue first-half 15-5 lead. Ladue found some tough going before …

District tournament finals on Rams home floor features two high-flying teams. Plan on arriving early.
The Class 5, District 2 championship game, Chaminade at Ladue Friday night is 24 hours away, and Rams’ coach Chad Anderson is already totally amped. He expects great things, especially when playing on their brand new home maple floor. For the first time in some 15 years, the Rams were able to host a district championship. The event has gone off flawless to date. In the semifinals, Ladue came out firing and smothered St. Louis U. High 67-51. In the other semifinal match, Chaminade evened the record with Riverview Gardens for the season 1-1 with an 82-56 whipping. Both games were played Tuesday night at Ladue. Chaminade is 17-8, and features plenty of younger players. Ladue is riding the crest of a 21-5 season. Anderson loved the play of his…

Senior Ezekiel Elliott scored four rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns as well, to raise his area-leading total to 41 this season.
MANCHESTER -- In a season of dynamic performances almost every week, the John Burroughs football team delivered one of its best efforts of the season Monday night in the Class 3 District 2 championship game against Soldan High of St. Louis. The Bombers, who have been on a mission since last season to get back to the Edward Jones Dome for their third straight appearance in the state championship game, looked every bit like the best team in the state, with a 50-6 romp over Soldan. "You can see it, these kids know what's at stake," Burroughs head coach and former NFL quarterback Gus Frerotte said. "They come and practice hard every day, and they refuse to let each other let down. And it kind of shows up when we play a game like this." Star …
