The Missouri State Highway Patrol is kicking up enforcement this weekend searching for drunk drivers as St. Patrick's Day celebrations take place around the St. Louis area.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) is warning drivers to "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over." Troopers and other police departments around the St. Louis area will be taking place in enforcing the campaign as St. Patrick's Day festivities take place throughout the area. The MSHP made the announcement in a recent news release. During the period of March 14-17, police are cracking down on drunk driving by conducting DWI saturations in an effort to remove impaired drivers from the road. Impaired driving contributes to nearly 30 percent of all Missouri fatal traffic crashes, the release stated. One accident let to a DWI arrest, according to Ladue police.
The following information was supplied by the Ladue Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made. Feb. 18: At 12:21 p.m., police responded to a single vehicle accident at McKnight and Moydalgan roads. A 45 year-old-man was arrested for DWI in connection to the crash, police stated. Feb. 19: At 8:52 a.m., police responded to a two-car crash on southbound Interstate 170 at Ladue Road. There were no injuries. Feb. 22: At 5:35 a.m., police responded to a one-car accident on Westbound Highway 40 at Lindbergh Boulevard. There were no reported injuries. Feb. 23: Ar 12:18 p.m., police responded to a two-car crash on westbound highway 40 at Lindbergh Boulevard. No injuries were reported.

Here are the results from last weekend's Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. in St. Louis County. It was focused on cracking down on impaired driving.
Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) officers released the results in of the crackdown in a news release. As previously reported by Patch, “Operation A.R.R.E.S.T” (Alcohol Related Response Enforcement Strike Team) took place last weekend in St. Louis County Saturday. According to the recent news release, the eight-hour operation netted the following results.

A man who fled from Frontenac officers during a traffic stop and crashed into a guardrail was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, police said Christopher Zomphier, 34, of the 500 block of Pelican Lane in Florissant, was charged Jan. 29 with resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated, combined alcohol and drug intoxication. Frontenac Police said officers saw Zomphier driving on Interstate 64 near Ballas Road at about 1:58 a.m. May 26, and he kept drifting and failed to maintain a single lane. An officer pulled him over, but as he was walking towards his car, Zomphier sped away, according to a report. Ladue police report in one accident a car struck a utility pole, but no one was injured.

Feb. 7: Westbound I-64 & Clayton Road At 11:50 p.m., a 25 year-old man was pulled over and arrested for DWI. Feb. 8: 10000 Block Clayton Road At 4:04 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident without injuries. Feb. 9: S. Warson Road & Old Warson Road At 10:33 p.m., police responded to a one-car crash without injuries. Authorities said the vehicle struck a utility pole and Ameren UE was notified.

Police will conduct operation A.R.R.E.S.T. this weekend in St. Louis County to crack down on impaired driving.

Ladue Police found the man in the grocery store parking lot at the wheel with the engine running.
Ladue Police said they found a man passed out behind the wheel of his car with the engine running in a parking lot at 8867 Ladue Road at 2:51 a.m. Friday. Jeremiah Maples, 25, of St. Louis, was charged with DWI as a persistent offender. It was his third DWI charge since 2005. He pleaded guilty to one of the charges last August. Ladue Police said officers woke Maples up. The officers said his eyes were bloodshot and water, he slurred his speech and could not stand without assistance. He was unable to perform a sobriety field test and refused a breathalyzer test. Police obtained a search warrant to take a breathalyzer but did not release the results. Maples is being held in St. Louis County jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond. He pleaded guilty …

Clayton Police said the man couldn't maintain a single lane while driving Jan. 12 on Forsyth Boulevard near Kingsbury Boulevard.
A man faces his third drunk driving charge after Clayton Police said he drove over a curb for about 50 feet and couldn’t stay in a single lane on Forsyth Boulevard Jan. 12. Gregory J. Welch, of the 8000 block of Maryland Avenue in Clayton, was charged Jan. 13 with driving while intoxicated as a persistent offender. Clayton Police said Welch was weaving as he drove in and out near Forsyth and Kingsbury boulevards Jan. 12. When officers pulled him over, they said he appeared to be drunk. Welch took a breathalyzer test, which showed his blood-alcohol content to be .146 percent, according to the police report. The purse was retrieved by the University City police and given back to the owner. 1:37 p.m. A two car accident happened on Clayton Road at McKnight. No injuries were reported. Saturday, January 5, 2013 1:27 a.m. A male, age 24 was stopped at McKnight Road and Clayton Road and charged with DWI. 1:54 p.m. A two car accident occurred at Ladue and Price Road. And does anyone really think he neither drove drunk to the Schnucks nor would have driven upon waking up? I know we all try to think of technicalities when threatened with jail, but this guy was a drunk in a car, all ready to go back out on the road and maybe kill some nice innocent person.   more ›
