Ladue Girls Capture Suburban East

The Rams defeated Clayton 55-26 for their 20th victory of the season Friday night at Washington University.

Pie was not on the menu Friday night for the Ladue girls basketball team, at least not the kind they had Tuesday night. The Rams had their perfect season and 19-game winning streak halted in dramatic and embarrassing fashion by Whitfield. The Warriors hit nine 3-point field goals in the first half en route to a 55-31 victory. "We ate some humble pie in that one," Ladue Coach Cord Dockery said. "The girls just thought that they could lace up the high tops and go out there and win. We had just come off a big win against Jennings and Jennings had beaten Whitfield so they thought that meant a win for us." It was a lesson which was learned, at least by the Rams' performance in their rivalry game with Clayton Friday night. Ladue led from start …

Ladue Girls Improve to 19-0

The Rams defeat Jennings 74-51 to clinch at least a tie for the Suburban East Conference championship.

Ladue girls basketball coach Cord Dockery knew that his team's game against Jennings was going to be a contest with contrasting styles. "It is going to be size against speed," Dockery said before the game. Ladue's size would ultimately prevail as the Rams defeated Jennings 74-51 in a match-up of undefeated Suburban East Conference teams Monday at Ladue. The victory clinches at least a tie for the conference title for Ladue, which can win the league outright with a win Friday against Clayton at Washington University. It also keeps Ladue unbeaten with a 19-record while breaking a 10-game Warrior winning streak. "We certainly didn't expect to go this far in the season without a loss," Dockery said. "But the conference title was a huge goal …

Lauren Maclin Leads Ladue To Perfect Record

The senior forward is averaging a double-double for the 14-0 Rams.

Ladue senior Lauren Maclin had to sit on the Rams' bench for the first nine games last year after transferring from Incarnate Word Academy at the semester of her sophomore season. Maclin kept statistics at the varsity games and the numbers were not pretty for the Rams. Ladue struggled through the 2009 portion of its season with a 1-8 record. "I was sitting on the bench and just saying to myself that I wish I could go out there and play," Maclin said. "I had a calendar and I was just counting down the days." The day finally came on Jan. 12 and Ladue lost a close game to Parkway North. But with the help of Maclin, the Rams followed with a five-game winning streak. Maclin had 15 points, 20 rebounds and five blocked shots in a win over …

Perfect at 12-0

Ladue Girls Dispatch Affton 68-37

Most athletes want a cold soda or a Gatorade after a hard-fought game. The object of choice for the Ladue girls basketball team are bags of ice. They need the cold substance to ice down their knees, ankles, shoulders; they have enough walking-wounded to fill up a M*A*S*H* unit. Not deterred, the 12-0 Lady Rams dispatched the visiting Cougars of Affton in the Suburban East conference opener, 68-37 last night. Senior forward Lauren Maclin had a double-double. She led all scorers with 30 points and hauled down 15 rebounds. For a few moments, things look bleak for the Rams. Sophomore center Taylor Robinson hobbled off the floor at the 4:21 mark of the first quarter with a badly-sprained ankle and never played again. In fact, she needed the aid…
