The Ladue Rams took care of business in the opening game of the American Heart Association Public-Private Showcase at Maryville University City Saturday. Ladue’s four guards combined for a splendid 39 points and the Rams crushed Whitfield 62-36. Ladue runs its record to 16-4, and winners of 9 of the last 10 in a row. They suffered a disappointing road loss to Normandy earlier this week, 47-41. Ladue’s coach Chad Anderson likes what he sees from his talented guards. “When teams zone us, we’re going to get our shots from our guards. They have the green light to shoot,” said Anderson. Rams get 20 points from Andrew Maddock, and 16 points from Cornell Johnston in 60-58 victory over Cadets in championship game of DC Wilcutt Tournament.
TOWN AND COUNTRY -- From the moment he realized his team would be facing the No. 2 ranked team in all of St. Louis area basketball, in the championship game of the DC Wilcutt Tournament, Ladue High head coach Chad Anderson preached the same mantra over and over again. "I told our kids (Thursday) at practice, and (Friday) before the game," said Anderson, "in order for us to win the big games, you've got to believe in yourself, number one. You've got to compete. CREVE COEUR -- Heading into Friday night's early-season, non-conference showdown at Parkway North High School, Ladue High boys basketball coach Chad Anderson reminded his Rams that none of his teams had ever beaten Parkway North before. The Rams and Vikings always seem to play spirited contests whenever they match up in any sport. But for whatever reason, none of Anderson's teams had ever come out on top.
