Monday, July 16, 2012 3:06 p.m. A student at Ladue Horton Watkins, 1201 S. Warson Rd. reported a cell phone stolen. The phone was stolen from a gym bag. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 12:01 p.m. Some one stole a power saw from a construction site in the 400 block of Barnes Road. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 6:32 a.m. A car overturned at the entrance of Upper Ladue and Ladue Road. The driver tried to over correct and flipped over but only sustained minor injuries. Thursday, July 19, 2012 5:17 p.m. A male, age 42 was arrested for driving with a suspended license at Log Cabin Drive and outer I-64/40. He was also a fugitive from the City of St. Louis. Police officers from Frontenac and Olivette have particular views of this situation.
Life has its interesting moments. Ladue-Frontenac Patch was conducting an interview about the dangers of texting and being on a cellphone while driving with Frontenac Safety Officer Mike Baron when an emergency phone call came in. “Gotta go, car upside down on Highway 40,” said Baron, scrambling to exit the building and jumping into his unmarked blue patrol car to quickly reach the scene of the rollover. As it turns out, the accident victim crashed into the median barrier on the Highway 40 overpass westbound at Lindbergh Boulevard and came to a screeching halt after crossing three lanes of traffic and smacking into the guard rail. As fate would have it, the victim was on his cellphone at the time, and his inattention led to the accident. …

The Moms Talk Q&A begins with a frank discussion about cell phones amongst four of the moms who serve on the Ladue-Frontenac panel. This is this week’s question. Your fifth grader approaches you and asks for their own cell phone. Obviously, many parents have been in this very same situation. What would your response be to this pressing question? Answer: Nancy Pasternak. “If my child in fifth grade asked for a cell phone because all his/her friends have them-I would first-point out that I don’t make parenting decisions based upon what other parents choose. However, I’d be willing to discuss his/her desire for a phone-why they felt it was needed, how it would be used, etc. And perhaps we would discuss a plan where he/she might acquire one …
