Car Crashes Keep Ladue Police Busy

One accident let to a DWI arrest, according to Ladue police.

The following information was supplied by the Ladue Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made. Feb. 18: At 12:21 p.m., police responded to a single vehicle accident at McKnight and Moydalgan roads. A 45 year-old-man was arrested for DWI in connection to the crash, police stated. Feb. 19: At 8:52 a.m., police responded to a two-car crash on southbound Interstate 170 at Ladue Road. There were no injuries. Feb. 22: At 5:35 a.m., police responded to a one-car accident on Westbound Highway 40 at Lindbergh Boulevard. There were no reported injuries. Feb. 23: Ar 12:18 p.m., police responded to a two-car crash on westbound highway 40 at Lindbergh Boulevard. No injuries were reported.

Car Crashes Keep Ladue Police Busy

Ladue police responded to a number of recent car accidents. Most were without any injuries.

The following information was supplied by the Ladue Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made. Feb. 17:            At 12:13 p.m., police responded to a two-car crash without injuries in the 9000 block of Clayton Road. Feb. 17:      At 6:02 p.m., police responded to a two-car crash without injuries in the 8800 block of Ladue Road. Feb. 15: At 3:50 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident with minor injuries in the 9800 block of South Forty Drive. Feb. 14:  At 8:38 a.m., police responded to a two-car crash in the 1500 block of Lindbergh Boulevard. No injuries were reported. Feb. 12: At 8:42 a.m., police responded to a two-car crash on eastbound Highway 40 at McKnight Road with no injuries.

Wash U Flag at Half Staff for Melanie Michailidis

The post-doctoral fellow was killed in a car accident this weekend.

Flags at Washington University were lowered to half staff Monday to honor Melanie Michailidis, a post-doctoral fellow killed in a car accident Friday night in Ladue. University officials have no information yet on a memoral service for the Islamic art expert.  Michailidis was the Korff Post-doctoral Fellow in Islamic Art in the Department of Art History and Archaeology, in Arts & Sciences, at Washington University. She held a BA from the University of Tennessee, and an MA from the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London, where she began her studies in Islamic Art. In 2007, she earned a PhD in Islamic art and architecture from MIT, where she specialized in monumental funerary architecture in Iran and Central Asia …

Photos of the Car Crash at Ladue's Deer Creek Coffee

We had the story about the car that smashed through a window at the local coffee shop. Here's the pictures, courtesy of the owner.

Deer Creek Coffee owner Marcy Williams shared these photos with Patch after yesterday's...mishap, when an older female driver who became confused smashed through the plate glass window at the front of the store. The wreck happened at about noon on Monday and closed the store briefly while inspecters made sure the building was safe. Nobody was seriously hurt in the accident. Deer Creek posted today on its Facebook page: "We've received word that the driver of the car who hit the cafe suffered only cuts and bruises and she'll be okay. We are so grateful no one was seriously injured." Williams told Patch she was unsure yet how she would remodel the corner of the building wrecked by the accident. Car Crashes Into Deer Creek Coffee

Deer Creek Coffee is doing business as usual, despite a vehicle crashing into the front of the store at approximately 12 p.m., Monday. A female driver in a vehicle involved in an earlier, separate car accident in front of the store parked her car in a lot next to Deer Creek. Co-owner Marcy Williams, who was in the store at the time, said the driver must have accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of her brakes and ran into the store. The driver was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. Williams said a customer who was in the store at the time got out of the way safely. “I heard the impact from my office,” Williams said. “I figured right away the building had been hit. The important thing is no one in the store was hurt.” …
