So Which Way is the Wind Blowing in Olivette?

So far, a big rush of readers have have shown their interests today concerning the article about the Novack brothers opposition to the purchase of a building in the Olivette Executive Parkway as part of Proposition "S" next Tuesday. Read what the brothers have to say here. Take the Patch readers' poll on this subject. Tell us if you are going to vote yes or no on next week's $9 million dollar referendum. I have no idea of incorrect behavior is going on, just a belief that the County-wide balkanization of police/fire is inefficient and way out-of-date. Balkanization has led to abuses in many municipalities. Oversight might be easier if it was centralized. More efficient in terms of time/talent/treasure, too. Prop "P" For Parks Goes to the Olivette Voters August 7

PROPOSITION “P” AUGUST 7, 2012 Proposition “P” is a referendum election that will be held in the City of Olivette on August 7. Proposition “P” asks Olivette voters to approve City bonds to acquire property and develop a modern athletic complex and other recreation amenities at Warson Park for the enjoyment of Olivette residents and visitors.. Passage of Proposition “P” will allow the City to develop six baseball, softball and soccer fields, pavilion, concession stand and restrooms, enhanced walking paths, tennis courts, expanded playgrounds, upgraded walking paths, and expanded and improved parking at Warson Park. Included in the proposed scope of work under Proposition “P” is the demolition of the Olivette Community Center due to its age…

Need For a New Olivette Fire House: The Big Story of the Week

On Aug. 7, residents in the City of Olivette will vote on two propositions to authorize city bonds to acquire and build new public safety and parks and recreation facilities in the City.   Proposition “S” authorizes nearly $9.4 million of City of Olivette General Obligation bonds to relocate the City Hall and Police Station and to build a new fire station in the current City Hall location. The primary focus of this proposition is improving public safety facilities and capacity for Olivette residents and businesses.   Proposition “P” authorizes $3 million of City of Olivette General Obligation bonds to redevelop and rebuild Warson Park for a comprehensive outdoor athletic and recreation complex.   The two bond referendums are separate from …
