Value-Driven St. Joe Graduates 125 Seniors in the Class of 2012

Ceremonies marks the end of the career for a talented class of seniors.

The St. Joseph’s Academy class of 2012 celebrated the 172nd commencement ceremony in the school’s illustrious history Thursday evening. The Angels and the values-driven women leaders they have become no doubt will continue to make a profound impact in the world. St. Joe family members are encouraged to upload their special graduation pictures to the Ladue-Frontenac Patch. Anita Reznicek, president of the school gave the invocation. The commencement address was given by Marcia Smith Niedringhaus, a member of the board of directors and mother of two previous graduates. Catlin Mary Bequette delivered the class Valedictorian address. St. Joe girls collected 349 scholarships, totaling in value more than $3 million dollars. Seventy eight percent…

This is the first of two parts with Anita Reznicek, President of St. Joseph's Academy, who took over in July after serving St. Teresa's Academy in Kansas City for 23 years. Ladue-Frontenac Patch: You’ve been on the job four months. What are your initial impressions? Anita Reznicek: This is a fabulous school, and it’s been nonstop action since I’ve been here. Defending state champs grinding through a challenging schedule this year.

Karen Davis, St. Joseph's Academy volleyball coach is not the sort to back down from an alley fight. The defending state champs play a type of schedule that would make other coaches hair curl. They load up with the best opponents from St. Louis, Chicago, Louisville and Kansas City. Tonight's match on the homecourt of the Angels, at 7 o'clock has extra meaning. The new president of St. Joe is Anita Reznicek, former head at St. Teresa's in KC for many years. Though she will be fondly greeting her old mates, she will be decked from head to toe in green. St. Joe brings a 12-5-0 record to this showdown along Lindbergh Boulevard. The team is led by senior Elisa Ames, the top blocker on the squad. Other stalwarts are sophomore Grace Carter, …

Celebration at Sunset, Par for St. Joseph's Academy

A day of tennis, cards, golf, lunch, auction and dinner, all for a very good cause.

Once again, the St. Joseph's Academy school community closed ranks for another very worthwhile cause. The annual Celebration at Sunset (Country Club) was held Monday to raise money for the scholarship fund. This money is earmarked for scholarships for any student who loses a basic breadwinner during their four years at school. Two students are presently being provided for under this umbrella. Think of it as a fund for some rainy days. One hundred and thirty five golfers teed off, 36 in the morning and 99 after the lunch hour. In the morning 11 women played round robin tennis and 50 women, mostly graduates of the Academy played in spirited card games. A luncheon was held on the veranda and a lavish dinner, with prizes and silent auction …

First Day of School is Today at St. Joseph's Academy

Angels welcome variety new teachers, new president to the campus.

The Senior class “team building” kickball tournament, in which the girls planned to have fun and get reacquainted with their classmates as they enter their last year at St. Joe was held on the front lawn Tuesday. The first full day of classes grades 9-12 began today.  Picture Day will be held tomorrow, Thursday, August 18   St. Joe welcomes several new members to the faculty this year: Joanne Curran – Part-time Learning Consultant, Heidi Drury – Theology Department (2007 SJA graduate). Elizabeth Kimbrough – World Language Department, Allyson Kassler – Social Studies Department, Jim Small – Science Department, long-term substitute for Katie Williams who is on maternity leave until September 30.
