MICDS Falls To Kirkwood In First Hockey Game Of New Year

AFFTON -- Even while giving up three times as many shots as they were able to take, the MICDS ice hockey team was just a goal away from securing at least a tie in its New Year's night Mid-States Hockey Association matchup against Kirkwood. So when the Rams were granted a power play with about 90 seconds left in the game, the decision was made for MICDS to pull its goalie and attack the Pioneers with a 6 against 4 advantage. Unfortunately, that ploy didn't work, as Kirkwood sophomore Michael Davies gained possession of the puck inside the MICDS zone, and scored an empty net goal with eight seconds left that gave the Pioneers a hard-fought 3-1 win over the Rams.
