Hanging Around: Frontenac Firefighters Train For High Rise Rescues

The Frontenac Fire Department participated in high rise rescue training, along with other area firefighters, earlier this month.

A fire in a high rise building is a rare occurrence, but area firefighters spent last week training for just such an occasion. The Clayton Fire Department hosted a high angle rope rescue class for firefighters from Clayton, Brentwood, Crestwood, Frontenac, Kirkwood, Maplewood, University City and St. Louis City. The firefighters learned how to rescue people from high places using rescue ropes. The training included mock drills on how to get people up and down narrow spaces, like elevator shafts.  Join Ladue-Frontenac Patch for more community news or join us on Facebook and Twitter.

I don't see residents being impacted except their fire taxes could be lowered.   more ›

You don't have to read Stevey D's douche bag comments. He thinks they are insightfully funny and witty and that's all that matters. I bet he writes each week to the The Tonight Show praying his literary genius will harpoon America with laughter with his little quips. But for now Stephen D keep commenting on the Patch...you will soon prevail with the 5 (now 6) readers that read this mush. You're …   more ›

Ladue police are investigating. How much counterfeit money is in circulation?

You've never passed a counterfeit bill, but others have—but maybe not as often as you'd think, according to a 2010 study from the Federal Reserve. It did happen last week, however, at the McNamara BP service station at the corner of Conway and Lindbergh. According to a report from the Ladue Police Department, a 24-year-old woman tried to pass two counterfeit bills at the gas station. The incident happened at about 10:30 a.m. last Thursday. Police said they are investigating. That, of course, is why so many retailers use special pens designed to flag fake money. According to a study by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago three years ago, the value of counterfeit currency circulating in the country ranges from $60 million to $80 million. …
