Richmond Heights Veterans' Memorial Accepting Donations

The gazebo will be located outside of The Heights community center.

With a planning grant of $4,000 from the St. Louis County Parks Commission, organizers are planning a Veterans' Memorial to be built on the grounds of the Richmond Heights Community Center at Dale Avenue and Highway 40 in Central County. Attorney Heinz spoke before the Ladue City Council about this project.

Donations are being accepted for a Veterans' Memorial Gazebo planned outside of The Heights community center along Dale Avenue. The Veterans' Memorial Committee also has launched a website, vetsmemorial.org, at which donations may be made. Everyone in the community is encouraged to join in.

"While the Memorial will honor all major branches of military services and commemorate the various conflicts in which our nation has been engaged, individual tributes from friends and family will be available through the purchase of paver bricks to be laid within and around the Memorial," a news release issued Tuesday states.

"Specific complementary features such as benches, flagpoles, reflective areas, lighting and landscaping can be sponsored as tax-deductible donations/contributions to the Memorial."

Donors may choose from a variety of sponsorship levels including bronze ($1,000), gold ($5,000) and diamond ($25,000). Paver bricks cost between $100 and $300.
