Bravo's Andy Cohen Comes Home to St. Louis for Bravo St. Louis, An Urban Chic Fundraising Event

The National Council of Jewish Women, St. Louis Section raised funds to help meet the needs of women, children and families.

The National Council of Jewish Women-St Louis Section brought Andy Cohen, TV personality and native St. Louisan, back to his home town to emcee Bravo Saint Louis, an urban chic fundraising event held at Neo on Locust Saturday night. Funds from the event will support the NCJW’s mission of helping women, children and families in need.

Regardless of tornados nearby, hail that made the ground look as though it had snowed and torrential rains all across St. Louis, Cohen was greeted with a warm welcome from hundreds of NCJW supporters—just like Cohen’s Bravo TV shows, the event was a hit.

Cohen, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development for The Bravo Network and host of Bravo’s late night interactive talk show “Watch What Happens Live” has grown to global celebrity status and has made a mark on pop culture with a laundry list of reality television shows for which he has been involved. He serves as executive producer on the Emmy and James Beard Award-winning Top Chef and The Real Housewives franchises and has been responsible for overseeing numerous hit shows such as Project Runway, Millionaire Matchmaker, Bethany Ever After and so many more. Cohen has many successes to his credit.

Cohen briefly spoke about his accomplishments to Patch. “I am most proud of my book, which will be out May 8th,” said Cohen about his autobiography.

Cohen’s friend, Kari Vincent added, “It is hilarious.” It sounds like a side-splitting must-read.

The night began with a special VIP meet and greet with Andy Cohen at the fabulously chic FK Photo Studios on Locust Street. The VIP event had the swank of a celebrity party with the feel of gathering with close friends. Cohen casually mingled with the crowd, pausing for photos and conversation. He charmed everyone with his boyish good looks and his famous crooked smile.

The main event was held across the street from FK Photo Studios at Neo On Locust, a posh yet intimate venue perfect for Bravo St. Louis. Delicious food was served while guests sipped on Cohen’s signature cocktails.

The “Real Housewives of St. Louis” mixed with the crowd and entertained on stage during a skit, a spoof of the Real Housewives TV show. Quoting “Real Housewife” Robyn Cradles, “Where did you go to high school?”

There were fun surprises that happened throughout the party and an exclusive live auction emceed by Andy Cohen offered bidders fabulous auction items.  Among the wonderful items up for bid was A trip to New York City to be in the live audience of Cohen’s show Watch What Happens Live with airfare, dining and first class hotel accommodations; a starter wine cellar; and dinners for eight at several of St. Louis’s finest dining establishments.

Prior to the opening bid, Evelyn Cohen, Andy’s mother, spoke about her experiences as former president and longtime volunteer of NCJW. She, with certain charms, persuasively entreated everyone to think about those in need when auction items were presented.  She gave examples of personal experiences that tugged at the hearts of all of the softies in the room. Clearly, NCJW and the work they do is dear to Evelyn's heart.

The National Council of Jewish Women—St. Louis Section is a volunteer-driven organization of 1,800 members and supporters with a network of more than 90,000 nationally. For more than 110 years the NCJW has worked to positively affect thousands of lives through identifying unmet needs and developing innovative, hands-on projects in the areas of child protection, education, domestic violence and eldercare. Then NCJW actively engages in advocacy and education to advance the well-being of women, children and families and works to ensure individual and civil rights.
