Shriners Physician Honored by American Academy of Pediatrics

Perry L. Schoenecker, M.D., chief of staff at Shriners Hospitals for Children was recently presented with the Distinguished Service Award by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

(ST. LOUIS) – Perry L. Schoenecker, M.D., was recently presented with the
Distinguished Service Award in the section on orthopaedics by the American
Academy of Pediatrics during its October meetings in New Orleans.

The Section on Orthopaedics established the Distinguished Service Award in 1995 to recognize an individual in the field of pediatric orthopaedics who has
contributed to the AAP's mission of excellence in patient care, research, and
teaching. The award is presented annually during the section's two-day
educational program at the AAP's National Conference & Exhibition.

"This award is a well-deserved honor not only for Dr. Schoenecker but also for Shriners Hospitals for Children -St. Louis, St. Louis Children's Hospital, and
Washington University Medical School given his long and distinguished career
with all three organizations,” said John Gloss, administrator of Shriners
Hospitals for Children. "His contributions to the welfare of generations
of children through direct patient care, education of countless physicians in
training, and his published research comprise a legacy few physicians anywhere
can match. He is a highly respected colleague and valued friend to all of us at
Shriners."
