'Sneak Peek,' Barbecue, Ice Cream Social: Ladue Elementary Schools Set to Go

Old Bonhomme will be part of the Olivette Patch starting the end of August.

There’s all kinds of news to report throughout the elementary schools in the Ladue School District. School starts for everyone Tuesday, bright and early.

All four schools are getting new technology resources for students and teachers alike. The upgrades and additions include laptop computers, desktop systems, iPads and a general expansion into the 21st century resources.

Here’s what is new, building by building:

Olivette students and parents will be getting their own new, vibrant news source with the launch of the stand-alone Olivette Patch the end of this month. The Patch will cover a wide variety of school events.  Principal Cheryl Kirchgessner is already an avid reader of the Ladue-Frontenac Patch.

The school community gathered Thursday night for a family-style barbecue at Stacy Park. The park was jammed with students and their parents; grandparents, siblings, teachers and school administrators. Everyone headed over to the park after picking up supplies and instructions and meeting their new teachers,

Thanks to the Old Bonhomme School Parents and Teachers Association (OBPTO), the teachers will be able to dine and relax in their newly-refurbished teachers lounge.

Out of site, the school got a new roof over the summer, and a landscaping project between the school and the upper parking lot is underway.

Conway

Conway held its “Sneak Peak” at school on Friday. Kindergarten students and parents were able to visit the class rooms and meet the teachers and staff. The Conway School Association (CSA) will hold a coffee on the first day of school Tuesday in the gym,

Reed

Community Day was August 9. That day parents and students were able to meet their new teachers. Parents were invited to sign up for the Reed School organized committees. The Reed School Association will be very busy this year.

The school has a new stage and many staff members have been working to revitalize the school’s garden with vegetables already growing.

Spoede

The new look includes a new principal. Dr. Kim Stallons comes from the Bayless School District. New family night was held on August 8, and an ice cream social broke the ice on August 9. Look for announcements from the Spoede School Association.

Spoede welcomes new teachers Danielle Lombardo, Jessica McAvoy and Renee Roberts, third grade; Elizabeth Jackson and Jenny Fugel, fourth grade; and Amanda Berndt, Special School District.
