Patch Picks: Events and Happenings June 11 - 17

Ladue-Frontenac Patch teams up with neighboring Patch sites each week to round up events and happenings in the area. Here are our picks for this week.

Monday, June 11

• The Ladue School Board work session is at 6 p.m.
• The Council will meet on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
• Kids ages 5 to 9 are invited to a special event at the on Monday at 2 p.m. The “Around the Campfire” event will give kids some of the fun of camping without all the work. Visit the library’s website for additional information and to register.

Tuesday, June 12

• Are you a purist when it comes to photography? If you love the idea of developing real film in a real darkroom, you won’t want to miss the Basic Darkroom Photography class at the that begins on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The class meets every Tuesday through The second week in August. The cost is for those ages 18 and over, and costs $150 for non-members and $120 for members, plus a $10 material fee. • It’s time for in Clayton. On Wednesday at 5 p.m., residents and guests should head to Downtown Clayton on Meramec Ave. between Fosyth and Maryland to join in the festivities. Local pop band Pop N’ Rocket and are on tap for entertainment, as is half-priced beer from 5 to 5:30. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. • in Clayton will feature the abstract paintings of artist Sheldon Johnson in his exhibit “If This Be Not I” on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Also featured will be wildlife photographer Jim Irwin and mixed-media artist Marilyn Callahan. Thursday, June 14—Flag Day

• Want a Taste of U City? You can taste food and drink from more than 30 local businesses on Thursday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the 560 Music Center in University City. • The University City Green Practices Commission will meet on Thursday at 6:30. There’s also an informational meeting on the Loop Media Hub Feasibility Study on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Black Box Theatre at the Center of Creative Arts (COCA).

• in Clayton will feature the band Cashmere on Saturday at 8 p.m.
• in Clayton is featuring an exhibit from artist Craig Downs. His June Bug exhibit features a number of paintings in his unique style. The exhibit will remain open until July 15.
• If you’re a Marianne Williamson fan, you’ll be interested in knowing that she’ll be in University City on Saturday at Namaste India, which has teamed up with Yoga & Spa magazine to make it happen. The eent will benefit Room to Read, a charity that helps educate children in underprivileged areas.
