Big Ride Across America Finally in the Home Stretch

Riders crossed Sunday from Ohio into Pennsylvania. The riders arrive in Washington D.C. August 4.

Somewhere in Pennsylvania...On Sunday, the 18 riders on the Big Ride Across America for the American Lung Association crossed from Ohio into Pennsylvania. Crossing the Ohio River, they were greeted by belching nuclear plants along the way.

Cleveland was a good stop for some hot meals and a day of rest. The last full day of rest occurs this Thursday in Gettysburg, PA. Then, they will pedal just 102 miles over two days as they cruise across a corner of Maryland into Washington, D.C. They will be greeted by officials of the American Lung Association on the Mall in D.C. No doubt, they will dip their wheels into the basin, marking the end of a 48 day, 3,3000 mile journey which began June 17 in Seattle.

Larissa Powers, our local rider, a middle school teacher at Mary Institute Country Day School will return shortly thereafter for orientation and a new school year.
