St. Joe Field Hockey Aims for More than a .500 Season

Maggie Potter has a deep pool of seniors to build around.

St. Joe field hockey coach Maggie Potter has designs on building on her 12-11-2 record from a year ago. She has 10 seniors and two juniors she will rely upon.

Josie Mullen logged 1,230 minutes in goal and will be replaced by Gabrielle Guard, a senior with limited experience.

Other prominent names in the mix for St. Joe this fall will be seniors Sophia Sansone, forward; Katie McVey and Molly Zuniga on defense; Clair Jochens, midfield; Claire Sauer, forward, Molly Soto and Madeline Gilstrap, forwards, Kate Croghan a midfielder/defender and Natalie Saracino, forward/midfield.

Junior Marigrace Ragsdale had 6 goals, 5 assists for 17 points and Cady Kopsky will be counted upon too.

“We always look forward to playing in the Gateway Classic. That is a great way to start the season after practicing so much in the pre-season,” said Potter.

“Coaches will have a chance to move around their lineups and give the girls valuable playing experience before we get into the regular season,” said Potter.

Road Tripping in September

As well, the Angels look forward to a tournament in Chicago in the middle of September.

The team does need to replace its two graduated Haley's, Haley Estes and Haley Wright who led the Angels in 2012 with 11 goals and 31 points.
